no, but it would nice to hear that in her 40's she does have other thoughts than ones about her vagina for a change.

I respectfully agree ...she can mix up the dance/intimate material with varied subjects. I guess it's hard to catch the young ears while keeping her core audience. What's left to choose from

Anger
Sex
Pain
Love
Joy

We'll see in 2010 ....I think Discipline was a solid album just not enough direction production wise.

Or is she just riding off of her brother's death because all of his stuff is selling like crazy now? So she knows she might sell well because of that? Seems a little too concidental to me.

Yes, this is exactly why the album was being recorded and the movie was being filmed prior to Michael's death. You know what, I'm sure the bitch even killed him herself.

At the very least maybe Michael's death will make her think twice about sticking a string of "baby making" songs on there and she can change it up a little and write some lyrics that actually mean something new to her.

Yeah, but coming from her at the time it was a bit of a novelty. After all the other albums it's really time to find something new.

I actually like Discipline the more I hear from it.

Life does go on. Out of all of them Janet struck me as most sincere in her grief. And of course his mother...

Especially since she's like the only breadwinner of the family.
If anyone would have offed Michael it would have been Jermaine, Randy, or Marlon. Them dudes broke as hell. Bagging groceries and living at home with Mama. eek and you 55?

Anyway thanks for the link!

I think if one person deserves to be back making hits that's Janet (and Whitney of course). So I wish her good luck. By the way isn't it time to release another compilation?

I'm interested to see what she'll come up with. Michael's death is probably the hardest thing she has ever had to deal with in her life.

She has been embracing it for like 9 years now...its time to step her game up. Rhianna almost is starting to be more different and groundbreaking than her

I think she'll also do a tribute song to MJ

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Discipline could have been a hot record if her record company had got their damn shit sorted. Ive said before Janet should have promoted it as an all out dance record. She should have made a record like Britney's 'Blackout'.....Stripped it of all ballads, except maybe Cant Be Good, got rid of those pseky interludes (so 90's), and got a couple more crazy dance tracks, and people would have realised Janet meant business.

I know she didnt put much into the record in terms of writing and collaboration, but it was a salvage job after the preposterous 20YO, and it didnt matter if it was an authentic Janet record. I though Rodney jerkins did a great job with it.

Her next record NEEDS to be fresh. Not a record the references past janet, or follows that tired formula that was stale even back in 2001 with All For You. Its not about her emracing her sexuality - ive no problem with that - its just its become boring. It was great back on Janet & The Velvet Rope when it felt like exploration, but after that it became tired and repetetive.

She just needs to get her head down and produce a record that she wants to make, not one that her record company wants her to, or that she thinks her fans will expect.

honestly, after the last 4 albums, she doesn't even sound like she's interested in making records at all.

maybe the death of her brother, the breakup with the troll (is this official?) and going through a few years of basically just sucking as a barely viable musical act, she'll dig deep and come up with some hunger and inspiration. here's hoping.
