It would have to be the Jimmy Jam Deeper Radio Edit. I have never liked the album version because I think the up-tempo takes away from the lyrics and true meaning of the song. The song was a tribute to all of Janet's friends who had died from AIDS. The up-tempo really takes away from that heartfelt meaning for me. This is the only true version of the song in my opinion:

janet said she changed it to an upbeat song because she thought her friends would want her to celebrate their lives not mourn them.

The album version is meant to be celebratory. Either way we have the ballad version, too, so you can choose whichever one you prefer to listen to given your mood.

neutral The album version hides the message for me. I respect her for choosing to see it in such a positive way and changing it into an up-lifting and joyful song. However, for me, the lyrics are soo beautiful and they get lost a little in the up-tempo version. The way I feel about this song is the same way I feel about Prince's "Gotta Broken heart Again". I hate the album version of the song because it's an up-tempo, but absolutely adore the version on the 'Live At The Aladdin' DVD. mushy It's slowed down with Maceo doing a sax solo....sensational; an absolutely outstanding version of the song because the up-tempo (album version) does absolutely nothing for me. I hate when lyrics get lost in the beat, especially when they are great lyrics. Just my twocents

I listened to the slow version a few days after the death, and felt just like her in the video, but looking like a mess from isolating myself for a few days and barely able to eat or sleep

I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion among the Janet brigade but I prefer this version over the original and that "hip-hop remix".

nod Definitely. I like this version waay better than the album version, but I'm still partial to the Deeper edit, but this one is definitely a happy medium. I've never heard this version. Where can I get this on CD; or is it just one of those one-time live performance mixes? Man, Janet sure is boobalicious on this video. lol Love the choreography; great performance.

We all grieve in different ways. I get to see if firsthand at my job all the time. Some people cry softly with a smile; some are stoic and do nothing but observe; some scream out and loss it completely; and, some laugh at the happy memories that last forever. For me, there's nothing like a good cry to relieve the pain and set my soul free to be able to clearly see all the happy moments that will remain with me for the rest of my days.

When I listen to the Deeper remix, I usually have a really good cry, but I smile; because, I believe that there is something beautiful after this life is over and that the people who we believe have left us far too soon are actually right on time in the next life. Sometimes God just needs more angels; that's why all the great ones seem to leave soo quickly. They have more important jobs to do elsewhere and that makes me proud to have been able to experience such a soul...a wingless angel. That was what Michael was to the millions of people throughout the world whose lives were touched by him. He'll never go away, because the hearts of those who loved him won't allow that to ever happen. nod
