Shakira's new single, "She-Wolf," will be available as a free download at the ABC Music Lounge from Sunday, July 12 at 7 p.m. ET until Monday, July 13 at midnight ET.

"She-Wolf," written and produced by Shakira and John Hill, is the first single from the artist's English-language album, due on Epic in October.

ABC's first crack at the song recalls the network's debut of another Epic single, The Fray's "You Found Me."Unlike that promotion, which debuted The Fray's track during a promo for the new season of "Lost" and led to an iTunes purchase opportunity, "She-Wolf" will be given away as a free download Sunday-Monday.

Plans are in the works for integrating Shakira's music into more ABC platforms, though a specific promo campaign or program synch hasn't been announced.A Spanish version of "She-Wolf," "Loba," debuts at No. 23 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart this week.

Yay! She's gone back to the really blonde hair from when she first came out in english. Couldnt stand the natural brownish colour of the last few years. Shes hotter as a blonde. I hope the music also returns to how good it was from 2002 as well.

I've only listened to "Loba". I don't think I want to hear the song in English. Her last English language album was crap.

Shakira is back, she's shaking it, and this time around, she knows what she wants.

"I think I felt trapped in a golden cage for many years," says Shakira, calling from Paris, where she's making final tweaks to her new album, She Wolf. "The culture, the education, the upbringing, what society expects from you. … Over the past year, I've been asking myself the question, 'What does Shakira really want? What are her desires and how do I fulfill them?' "

Look no further than She Wolf, the first single from the album. The music video premieres Thursday on MTV (8 p.m. ET/PT), and sneak peeks show the petite Colombian singer letting loose in a golden cage.

"It was improvisation. I went crazy," she says. "They said 'Action!' and I just started hanging from the bars. I felt so inspired, maybe because I felt like I was a living metaphor trapped inside the cage."

The video's concept — and dance moves, of course — were created by Shakira. Not one to mess around, the 32-year-old singer made sure to include a couple of live wolves. "They were hanging out on the set and people were freaked out."

In human form, she says, "the she-wolf is that individual that satisfies the desires inside of all of us and sets them free."

Shakira, who last mesmerized fans with Wyclef Jean in the 2006 hit single Hips Don't Lie, has been hard at work writing and producing in her Bahamian home studio.

"I'm an artist who definitely needs the approval of the public. When I'm creating the material, that's the last thing I think about, but once it's out there, it's really exciting," says the self-described perfectionist. "I said to my manager, 'I'm ready for hair and makeup!' "

Also ready: her body. But it didn't come easy, and she says she used to be inconsistent with exercise. "Being in the studio was so demanding, or maybe I just used that as an excuse," she says. "Not that I was out of shape … but now I had to look good for my fans."

A month of physical training 2½ hours a day, along with "a lot of spinach and fish and not many sweets," did the trick.

"I feel like I transformed my body. After making the video, there was not one muscle in my body that wasn't in pain."

With all of the body and mind soul-searching, one thing she knows she wants for sure is children — but that doesn't necessarily mean marriage.

"I want to reproduce. I'm semi-married," Shakira says. She has been in a nine-year relationship with entrepreneur Antonio de la Rúa, son of the former president of Argentina.

"I used to believe I had to be married to have kids. … The culture kind of gives us tunnel vision. But we function as a married couple; we don't need papers for that."

Before any babies come on the scene, there's more work to be done. "First, I want one more world tour," she says. With the new album, "I feel like I just delivered a baby, and he likes to party."
