Pastor Mase had a car accident while cruising the tranny prostitute track in Atlanta. After he rear ended someone, his car had to be towed. out of embarrassment, he remained in the car, trying to hide as his car was being towed away.

yeah, ok, but is there any proof he was aware the prostitue was a tranny?
U know, not every tranny look like Ru Paul lol

Mase was a regular on the tranny stroll. On tranny strolls, they're usually tranny prostitutes. Makes sense, right? I guess Eddie Murphy didn't know either. HMMMMM

Notice the bass player taking the feminine role too seriously in the intro.

how did that whole effeminate trend of the 80's begin anyway? it seems to me like we went from the button downed gentleman of the sixties which due to the civil rights, sexual, and counter-cultural revolutions gave way, to the funky brothas of the 70s, and then out of no where we just leapfrogged to the androgynous men of the 80's. How did that happen?

It's all started with this white rock band from the early 1970's called The New York Dolls..... lol

Do you mean the '80's trend started with the NY Dolls, because there were feminine looking male performers before then. Little Richard immediately comes to mind.

nod I say this all the time. I have a LoveSexy era poster of Prince in my office, and sometimes when students come in, they say "he's gay" or "Prince is so gay." I always laugh and tell them that they need to go beyond the surface. I say Prince is so NOT gay, and that the so-called "hard" dudes that they think are so straight are the ones they need to taking a deeper look at. I tell them that if they listen to Prince's lyrics, they would see that he clearly LOVES women. On the other hand, the dudes they listen to seem to have no love for women. They actually display a great deal of animus toward women. They have much more love for their boys than women. The documentary "Beyond Beats and Rhymes" has a really good section about this.

That picture was definately taken during the "Throwin' Down" era. Surely Rick didn't think they would use it on the album. Then again, as high as he was all the time, maybe he did. Hell, Motown probably turned it down because the titties on that bitch were saggy as hell. lol

Exactly. But I remember in a previous thread that even Little Richard was given the idea of wearing make-up from another artist (who's name I don't remember off-hand).

As was seen in the 80s, a heterosexual male artist has to be quite cute naturally (with large eyes) in order for any androgyny to really work and not look like a silly gimmick. Ne-yo and The Dream are talented, but they could never be androgynous. Neither could Timberlake, Chris Brown, Unique Zayas, or any current male pop/r&b artist that I've seen. Their facial features would not be complemented or enhanced with eyeliner or mascara. disbelief

And Rick James? Well:

disbelief He dressed like a woman alright, but it didn't look good to me. He would go on my list of men who SHOULD NOT have been androgynous. lol The best I've seen Rick James was during his scene in the movie "Life," where he was wearing a 30s gangster-suit with a slick-back hairstyle, lol.

with hip-hop where it is, you won't see any of the male performers like you did in the 70s-80s mainstream.

Ms. Kevin form the legendary House of Aviance. YEEEES. Unfortunately, a VERY out of the closet Black gay male will never become a mainstream artist with songs like "Cunty" Good try.
