And speaking of bitches/girlfriends/mid-wives, how many women had Elvis been with during his career?

According to stories, Elvis dated a LOT of women but he never slept with most of them. Apparently, the most he'd do with the women he was with was talk to them in his bed. He did have a few excursions when he was younger but into his final years, he was impotent because of his drug abuse. I say Elvis' real flings besides Priscilla were Anita Wood and Linda Thompson. I wanted to say Margaret Ann was another close lover but I'm not too clear on their relationship.

Oh shit!

The Ann-Margret affair

Of the many women involved with Elvis Presley the one who worried Priscilla Beaulieu most was actress/singer Ann-Margret, who co-starred with him in the film Viva Las Vegas. In her book, Priscilla devotes four pages to the subject (175 to 178). There was a lot of publicity about a romance between Elvis and Ann-Margret during the 1963 filming, and in the following weeks when Presley returned to record music and prepare for his next film. Despite his denials of an affair, Beaulieu went to Los Angeles and stayed with him. Aware Priscilla was there, Ann-Margret took matters into her own hands and suddenly announced to the Los Angeles press that she was engaged to Elvis Presley. The news was picked up by every major newspaper in America and Elvis informed Priscilla that he and Colonel Tom Parker thought it best for her to "go back to Memphis till it calms down." Beaulieu picked up a vase and fired it across the room, screaming that Ann-Margret should "keep her ass in Sweden where she belongs." But desperate to please him, she went back to Graceland the next day. Elvis returned two weeks later, admitted to the affair, but promised it was over. Of all the movie stars Elvis Presley worked with, Ann-Margret was the only one to attend his funeral.

The very next line of Priscilla's book says that after the Ann-Margret ordeal she soon suspected there were other women. She began traveling with him but says she would still "get crazed with worry." She was afraid that the moment she was away from him, another woman could slip in. Priscilla relates how her insecurities would lead her to imitate the other woman's appearance (changing her clothes, hairstyle and makeup), to hopefully please him.

If she forcefully challenged Presley on her suspicions he would threaten to send her home to her parents. One such confrontation led to a screaming match where he told her to get out. Bags packed, chauffeur ready to take her to the airport, Elvis changed his mind at the last minute and she willingly stayed. Priscilla writes that it was years later before she realized his tactics were part of a need to control her. This pattern began before they were married, but in her 2005 made-for-television documentary titled Elvis by the Presleys, she admitted he had affairs with other women during their marriage.

I checked backed, Mr. Rose interview with Ms, Margret was 1994, I think Mr. Rose was into his 3rd season of his show. I'm not for sure...

Yea, it was an insteresting interview. I can respect Ms. Margret discretion.. for not going into detail about her relationship with Elvis. It's been reported Elvis was the love of her life and vice versa but it didn't work out because Margret's independence was threatening. But who knows, except for them.

P.S. You are very welcome Timmy. biggrin

Talk about history repeating itself.

Just like in the case of Michael many years later, there were some people that were criticize Elvis badly in the final years of his life as well.

Damn, Elvis was f***ed up. sad disbelief I wonder if his doctors were just as irresponsible as Michael's doctors.

well, clearly they were. from the excerpt above:

It was from a very peculiar position that Dr. Nick watched Elvis dry out
in the hospital, because he knew that the pills Elvis was so strung out on
had come from him. As early as January, Dr. Nick had become Elvis' primary
supplier. It wasn't greed or ego that put his small, white-haired physician
in that place. Up until January, Elvis had solicited his prescriptions from
dozens of doctors, stretching from Beverly Hills and Palm Springs to Elvis'
Graceland neighborhood.
Dr. Nick, who had been one of them, figured that if
he could become his patient's only source, he could gain control and, with
time, wean Elvis off drugs completely.
But the quantity and variety Dr. Nick prescribed challenged all
credibility. Two years after Elvis' death, a computer check of prescriptions
issued in the Memphis area showed that in the final seven months of Elvis'
life, George Nichopoulos prescribed 5300 uppers, downers and painkillers for
Elvis.
That's an average of about twenty-five pills or injectable vials a
day.

mj broke elvis' record in hawaii when he played aloha stadium. i wonder if he's going to 'break' this record for most drugs found in a celebrity's system at time of death or most unscrupulous doctors prescribing thousands of pills in a short time frame. neutral

In Mary Tyler Moore's memoir, she writes that while she and Elvis were filming the movie "Change of Habit," Elvis bragged to her that he had sex with every single one of his female costars. Once filming wrapped, Mary said that Elvis could now brag that he had sex with all but one of his female costars.

Love Mary!

Wow!! Didn't know Elvis was such a "rolling stone playa"http://prince.org/chat/code_help.html?cmd=emote_only&target=post#.... But I'm even more amazed by the love and jealousy Priscilla had... I mean, dressing like the other chix to please him?? Cute and scary at the same time...http://prince.org/chat/code_help.html?cmd=emote_only&target=post#

Elvis slept around and slept with most of his girlfriends as well. Everyone he was publically known to have dated has mentioned knowing at least a few other women he was seeing at the same time. Rather like an infinite loop. wink Plus there were groupies, strippers, showgirls & chorus girls... standard industry stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making a Wilt Chamberlain comparison, but a portrait of Elvis having like 4 girlfriends over his lifetime isn't reality-based. There was a reason he had the "No wives in Hollywood, No wives in Vegas, No wives on tour" policies and it wasn't to do a favor for his wardrobe guy.

That said, I still agree generally with other of the comments. His sex life dwindled over time as he took more and more pills. He didn't like to sleep alone so if he didn't WANT to have sex with someone he would generally still have a woman there at least for talking and actual sleeping, and yes he would tell them he just wanted someone to talk to, by their accounts.

The list of Anita Wood, Linda Thompson, Ann Margret - I would agree they were most serious, along with Priscilla, and for a while Ginger of course. The situation with Ann was serious and the end seemed a regret for both that he later tried to alter, unsuccessfully. There were about 20 other commonly known girlfriends of a sort, including, off the top of my head, diane, june j, dixie l, barbara h, barbara l, susan h, judy s, cybill s, sheila r, marilyn e, dottie h, yvonne l, shirley d, juliet p, joyce b, elizabeth m, kathy w,...without really getting to costars...

Regarding some other thread comments by whomever(s)...

I believe Ann has always denied planting any engagement story and it would be out of character if she had. It gives a misleading impression to say Ann was the only Hollywood costar (or whatever) to attend his funeral - even though it's technically correct - simply because the funeral was held in his living room and nobody was invited.

Mary Tyler Moore, on her book tour, said that long AFTER she worked with Elvis, she'd HEARD that he'd made a comment about sleeping with his costars, not that he "bragged to her" about his sex life. And again, would be out of character if he had.

I'm not proud to know any of that, and feel the same about knowing any Prince's-women names so... oh well!
