John Coltrane - "Blue Train"

John Coltrane - Blue Train (1957)

The title track from the album of the same name. I haven't got a whole lot of Coltrane, but this piece always draws me in right from the first note. I think it's because the horns start the song off on a darker note, herralding the arrival of something more ominous, and then launches into something more bluesy and upbeat but pensive. Amazing stuff.
