It's from the summer of '87.Features a huge article on MJ's "Bad" album which was released a few months later.4 by Four was an R&B boy group who scored two minor hits in 1987: the uptempo "I Want You For My Girlfriend" and the slow jam "Come Over" (written by Melvin Riley of RFTW).

R&B groups couldn't look like that these days "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

The article is about Prince's alter ego Camille. They explain why several songs on 'Sign O The Times' are sung by someone named Camille. They gleefully point out that even a Rolling Stone writer was fooled....when he reviewed the SOTT album,he seriously listed the name "Camille" as one of the guest artists on the record, lol.

I didn't dig their frontcover-design anymore around 1986. The one posted on this page with Mike doing the live=pose onstage for the Victory Tour. The colored text-sections surrounded by it looks cheap.

I remember the corny video for that song I want you for my girlfriend. Come Over sounded just like a song RFTW had on the shelf. The dude with the white jacket on was the lead singer. Guitarist "Boots" used to be musical-director when "4 By Four" toured. He posted some pics on his myspace : http://viewmorepics.myspa...672&page=3 [Edited 7/31/09 22:56pm]

Steven Ivory still writes an occasional column at eurweb.com. He also published a book a few years back called "Fool in Love." He's actually one of my favorite writers. His work never fails to impress and delight me. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.
