Besides, something about that "King of Pop" title sounds so....trite? Borderline silly? Not sure, but it doesn't work for me. I'm glad Prince is just Prince, damn it. He defies titles and labels and I hope he knows that. I don't see him fitting neatly into one genre, anyway, especially "pop". He was aptly named, IMO. Except that it wasn't. Deep for what Kanye is/was doing previously....not, compared to other some other mainstream pop acts. Madonna has gotten deeper and more "artistic" than 808's. It's easy to be the King of a shit hill and that's what Kanye is. Pop music (and mainstream hip hop ) is so tired, uninspired, and dead right now. Kanye is what is known in boxing as a paper champion. No one cares except for him. Being the top selling artist was something in the 80's and 90's...you know, when people actually bought music.
