What about female falsetto singers like Minnie Riperton, Dennise Williams, and Mariah Carey.

Females do not have a falsetto. The term is only applied to male singers.
Minnie and Mariah use the whistle register, though.

I might be opening up a can of worms with this one, but fuck it....What about MJ? His falsetto on, "Get On The Floor", was tight...

The Journey song "don't stop Believing" is NOT falsetto. He sings a high note, but it is not falsetto. Do you know what falsetto is?

There has been a lot of good names said so I'm just going to add Cedric Bixler-Zavala of The Mars Volta to the list. He has one of the best I've ever heard.

Let me add Otis Stokes of Lakeside. ...Many Best of Lakeside CD's have a different voice in his place (I don't know why). ...Anyway - check the vinyl albums for him on Say Yes, Real Love, & Given Into Love - to name a few.

UH?? Is it deliberate or simple omission?? Michael Jackson is not listed on your lists as one of the falsettos??? U kidding me? l know U're probably tired of the MJ omnipresence, but c'mon give him the props he deserves!! Guess U havent listened to "Off The Wall" yet(the whole album)... "Don't Stop Til U get Enough" is a PERFECT falsetto songs; just like Marvins "Got To Give It Up", it's soothing and sexy at the same time...
Other favourites includes Maxwell (whatever some of U may say, his falseto beats d'Angelos down!!), Eddie Kendricks, Prince, and Jack White (from The White Stripes) have a nice one too (not so common in modern rock music) .. But the best of all... Have U ever heard of this guy?? lol ...

My number one falsetto is El Debarge (big shock, I know).
However, isn't singing falsetto, the same thing as singing soprano?

No one's denying that Michael is one of the best falsetto singers, lol. El DeBarge is definitely a great falsetto and I like your choice, FrenchGuy. That guy had a great yet unusual falsetto. biggrin

Do you know what the meaning of the word, falsetto means? It literally means, "False Voice". People who sing soprano are really singing in that high octave. It is when they go into that that lower octave, that they are singing in a falsetto, because that is not their normal voice. Think of Prince's vocals on "Daddy Pop", some of that song or most of it, is sung falsetto, because it is not his "real voice".

Wrong. The falsetto is above the modal range, not below it. Singers use the falsetto when the go above their normal modal voice.
All males can sing in falsetto, but not all their falsettos sound a like. A bass singer going above his modal voice into falsetto, for example, will most likely produce a lower falsetto than a tenor voice going into falsetto.
Some singers (countertenors) sing in soprano range using the falsetto.
