Songs/Emotions/Memories

snowflake

Choose 1, choose 5, choose 10 if you like... lol

We all have songs from our past that stir up huge emotions and take us back to places that we hadn't visited, or thought about, in a long time.

Maybe it played in the background to your first kiss... or it was the first 7" you bought. Maybe it was your mother's favourite song... or maybe your ex-boyfriend's. lol

Whatever the story, please share with us the moods and memorie behind certain tracks.

Here's mine:

One Piece At A Time - Johnny Cash

When it comes to my childhood, I don't remember a great deal. In some ways, it was idyllic - I was a sickeningly cute kid, very sweet, the type old ladies and aunties go gaga over. giggle I was a real Mummy's boy, very affectionate, and lived in a total make-believe world. It was only as I grew older that I realised not everyone is a sensitive as me and I sorta developed a protective shell. My teenage years were extremely hard and, as I got older, I literally stopped looking back, stopped questioning how and what had happened, and started living in the present. The result? Less pain. But an abandoned past. Which really does seem like make-believe, now - I barely remember it. And, recently, I have realised that it is something that I may need to reconnect with. So there's a bit of background.

What I do remember is all 5 of us - my mother, father, brother and sister - driving around with a Johnny Cash Best Of playing in the car. When we went on a road trip, Johnny joined us. If we went to visit my Gran, he'd accompany us too. I have my parents to thank for introducing me to music at a very young age - it was just always there - and there are loads of songs from my childhood that create a huge glow in my heart. Yet few resonate with me as much as 'One Piece At A Time'. Just a few bars in and I am sitting in the middle of the backseat. I amfalling asleep to those honky tonk keyboards. lol I am 4, 5, 6 years of age in a car, travelling somewhere again. I love this song. music
