The Singular Thomas Dolby

Any Thomas Dolby fans?

He just released 2 outstanding reissues of his 1st two albums, remastered and with b-sides and bonus tracks - "The Golden Age of Wireless" and "The Flat Earth" - and an excellent new singles compilation "The Singular Thomas Dolby"

There is finally a comprehensive Thomas Dolby retrospective that sounds great, includes all of his singles (including the outstanding "Field Work"), and includes the single edits. Highly recommended.

Thomas Dolby is far more than just "She Blinded Me With Science"!! Any fans of 80's synth-rock should check him out.

Track listing:

1. Urges
2. Leipzig
3. Europa and the Pirate Twins
4. Airwaves
5. Radio Silence
6. Windpower
7. She Blinded Me With Science
8. One of Our Submarines
9. Hyperactive!
10. Dissidents
11. I Scare Myself
12. Field Work (London Mix)
13. May The Cube Be With You
14. Airhead
15. Hot Sauce
16. My Brain Is Like a Sieve (Bill Bottrell Single Remix)
17. Close But No Cigar
18. Silk Pyjamas
19. I Love You Goodbye

5. Radio Silence

Definitely one here.

I hope this is the guitar-heavy uptempo version I have on an LP copy of The Golden Age of Wireless.
The CD copy I have has a "wimpier" arrangement.

There must be at least 3 or 4 different releases on this title.

It's not, but the guitar version is available as a bonus track on the "Golden Age of Wireless" reissue. It's on iTunes. I downloaded all the bonus tracks, and then when I have the $$ i'll get the actual CDs. Supposedly, the CDs contain track-by-track commentary on all the songs by Dolby, and that should be interesting to read.

I'm pretty sure my first copy of "Wireless" was on cassette tape also. smile

Did you by chance get to see his "solo" Sole Inhabitant tour?:

Yes I did! i went to the Alexandria, VA show (i'm on that thread you linked in my old incarnation, NorthernLad).

Was an awesome show and he sounded great, and seemed like he was having a blast. And the live album that came from it is great. Supposedly new music later this year!
