Prince in Murphy and MJ's Whatzupwitu?

In the beginning of Eddie and Michael's Whatzupwitu? you can hear a scream and glass breaking, sounding exactly like that part in Thieves in the Temple. I was very surprised when I heard this. Is it Prince or just the same idea...?

I don't like the Whatzupwitu (<--the correct spelling of the track)video, but I don't cite it as Michael's fault. That was Eddie Murphy's video for Eddie Murphy's album. And Michael only did that video as a favor to Eddie for being in Michael's Remember the Time Video--which was an AWESOME video. smile

I still think Party All the Time was Eddies' best song! lol

Thanks, I used to spell it like you but then I googled the song and everyone wrote "What's Up..." so I got confused lol

I think it's just a fun song/video that isn't meant to be much more than that.

But this thread wasn't supposed to be about MJ, I wanted to get my question answered, highlight the fact that they sampled Prince's Thieves in the Temple and discuss it from that point...

I never liked it, but listening to it now, it's not bad at all. I may have to search for the cd.

Prince doing hip hop is alot worse lol

Mike pulled it off with Jam and This Time Around and Prince pulled it off with Race

NONSENSE

that was definitely a Prince scream. I didn't know MJ and Eddie did a song together. I remember hearing this song once but didn't know about the MJ link. The song kinda reminds me of "Good Love" so perhaps it was written and produced by someone we know?

this song has always been ass, but I think it's cute to see MJ in a very relaxed stance. not something you usually see in videos.

I'd like to see that too. I wonder why that part was used, whatfor? Did MJ just want to involve Prince in some of his stuff, was it Eddies idea, was it perhaps P's idea after a get together...? hmmm

Hmm...never thought about that? You might have a point though. I'll have to go back and listen to the song.

Michael's vocals are the only good part of the song.

The video is really um suspect lol and it's so corny too, but good for a laugh.

I think it was more of returning a favor for appearing in "Remember The Time". Also they were friends at the time. Especially after Eddie did Delirious (I think).
