Self-Portrait & Outrun The Sky are better by FAAAAR than her early 90s album.
You'd be surprised @ how much you'll enjoy 'em. Her cover of Luther's Forever, For Always, For Love is really outta this universe he would've been proud.

She's great. I saw a live show on TV called the "Daughters Of Soul" she performed here in The Netherlands. It was Chaka's daughter Nina's daughter and Lalah. Amazing show. And she showed off her vocal ability. Sick.
A clip for you Harle enjoy. Stevie & Lalah. Btw miss Sheila E is there too! [Edited 7/19/09 8:15am]

I agree Self Portrait and Outrun the Sky were definitely better artistically than her early 90's albums. I did like most of the tracks on her second album. Outrun the Sky was definitely her best album. Self Portrait isn't far behind. [Edited 7/19/09 10:38am] Don't laugh at my funk

My favorite: Somethin' Baby Don't Cry Heaven Knows Let Me Love You I have all of her CD's, I like "A Moment", the best. Her sister Kenya, isn't so bad either. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I saw her mentioned the first time in the liner-notes of Lalah's second album, and as one of the singers of Lalah's tourband. Wonder if she will record or already recorded on her own. Lalah's debut single : www.discogs.com/Lalah-Hat...se/1190158

"Better And Better" would initially appear on an Eric Benet-album, and a limited quantity of promo-singles from Eric's version circulated in the radio-circuit, which caused (especially in the UK) quite a hype for awhile :
Her current vibe i'm cruising on :

She has sang with the American Idol band, for years and does allot of stuff overseas. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Thanks for the heads up ! There is also a third daughter, but I don't know if she is in the business. Either way, Donny must be smiling, up there. This cd is never to far from my rotation. I have every thing Ms. Hathaway ever recorded and I don't think she's made a weak album yet. This Sista should have "blown up" all over the place a long time ago... the clueless record company's and radio stations.

I snatched it up. Not too long after, it was borrowed and never seen again. I recently paid 25 bucks on ebay for it. It had been out of print, but someone had it, so I got it back...Worth every penny!! "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I used to think Lalah could do no wrong. Her first 3 albums were fantastic! But, then, she drops "Self Portrait". Not anywhere near her best. I'm not sure what happened. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Me, too. Heart-wrenching, incredible performance from Lalah (often wondered why she's been largely ignored by The Grammys?). That's a song I always had a difficult time listening to. The lyrics remind me of someone in my life. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I'm with you. I was disappointed when I bought it. Love all her albums, got them all and the collaborations. But I expected more.
