Maxwell or D'Angelo For me, it's D, although I am feeling Maxwell's new song. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Why it gotta be a contest?
Depends on my mood, I'm in the mood for Maxwell more often BUT he also has more material to choose from...

Both. They each do something different for me.
I mean come on, one dude does "Pretty Wings" while the other does "Chicken Grease". Far as I'm concerned there is room on my plate for both of 'em.

he should have released them all 3 at the same time, in a digipack, like prince's lotusflower album. i don't see the point in there being a tripple album theme to it if you're gonna spread it out over 3, or more likely 6 years. wth? and only 9 songs? 1 instrumental? the album is ok. if only for the lead single it's a worthy album but it's just not enough. what do they think, we can't handle 27 new maxwell tunes? damn, his fans can handle it. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I love D'Angelo (hope he is on Jenny Craig), But Maxwell's new CD is FIRE. "POOR IS THE MAN WHO'S PLEASURES DEPEND ON THE PERMISSION OF ANOTHER" Madonna

I like D'Angelo and he's great live, but I love me some Maxwell. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

Oh Lord don't let these two be this generation's version of Prince vs MJ LOL
Maxwell. His first cd was a masterpiece. His singing is great and he has a great band. I love to listen to the music on his cd just as much as hear him sing. He has also released more music. I hope he doesn't wait too long to release another cd becaues people won't be so kind next time. Prince believes he is a musical prophet that has been chosen by Jehova to guide his fans to the "truth".

always liked both. well not always. in those years neither of them was doing anything, i couldn't have cared less.
but Maxwell has always been the one i preferred by far. really loving his new one. glad he's back with such a strong disc

Maxwell hands down. D is a "has been". M is a "still is".

well, to be fair, Maxwell wasn't a "still is" until relatively recently. he was right there with D'angelo and Lauryn Hill and Sade as a recording artist in theory only.

well, to be fair, Maxwell wasn't a "still is" until relatively recently. he was right there with D'angelo and Lauryn Hill and Sade as a recording artist in theory only. A lot more people have been asking for M's music than D's. M's been online, twittering, keeping in touch w/ fans, and telling them about his music coming. D is .....where, exactly? Oh yeah, "featured" on a slew of forgettable songs. Last album was 2000? Yawnfest. D appearing on a morning show wouldn't generate half the interest or audience of what M did on The Early Show last Friday.

D'Angelo. No contest. Not even remotely. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

D'Angelo is okay but i'm certainly not a part of the lovefest for him on the org. If he makes new music fine but if he doesn't the sun will still shine tomorrow. I find Van Hunt more entertaining. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

AFAIC, D'Angelo is the brightest spot in R&B of the last 20 years with Van Hunt at #2. Maxwell? Hmm... "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
