Either '82 or '83, it's around that timeframe so it could've been early since MJ lost a bit of weight and his hair was more curly.

yeah 1982, he had more of an afro curl like thing going .. 1983-84, it was pure jheri curl .. 1985 , it was straight .. its weird how we can all look at pix of MJ and tell what year it was

He might've, who knows? They kinda look like Billboard awards but I'm not sure. This may be in early 1982 because he won a lot of awards the previous year but because of the "Triumph" tour in '81, he couldn't be there in person to receive them.

It might've been awards for the "Off the Wall" album. hmmm Which is odd to say because its peak was in 1980 but he was still receiving awards for it in '81.

Yeah no way is that 1983. I dont think its 1982 either. His eyebrows are too thick. This looks more like the in between of off the wall and thriller stage. I doubt thriller was even out yet, it may be right at the start of 1982

Inside Story: Michael Jackson's Young Protegé
By Sara Hammel
July 24,2009

Michael Jackson had a close relationship with his own three children, but he also mentored many other youngsters over the years – including Omer Bhatti, a young musical talent who was particularly close to the singer.

Bhatti, now 25, sat front and center at the King of Pop's memorial earlier this month, and is currently staying at the Jackson family home in Encino, Calif.

A Norwegian performer, Bhatti was a fixture at Jackson's Neverland ranch after the two met in Europe in the mid-1990s, when Bhatti was around 11, according to several sources.

'Little Monkey'

"Everyone knew him as 'Little Michael,' and Michael referred to him as 'Little Monkey,' " remembers Ricky Harlow, a rocker in the band Harlow, who was signed to Jackson's MJJ Records in 1996 – and enjoyed an open invitation to Neverland.

Harlow, then about 15, spent many weeks at Jackson's ranch and remembers Bhatti and Jackson as being very close, but says media reports hinting that Bhatti is the pop star's son make little sense.

"They had a father-and-son type of connection," Harlow says, "but I never thought he was his biological father. They met when Little Michael did a contest impersonating Michael Jackson in Europe in the mid-1990s, and Michael saw it and was blown away and got in contact with the family."

Life at Neverland

The Jackson family recognizes the close bond and has taken in Bhatti, a source tells PEOPLE. "They definitely embrace him," says the source. "He lived with Michael like a son. After Michael died, he came to the Jackson family home in Encino. He came along with Michael's kids."

Soon after meeting Jackson, Bhatti and his mother Pia and father Riz were invited to live at Neverland, with all its perks.

"Michael cherished him," says Harlow. "He was always like, 'Please be careful with Little Monkey. When you ride on the four wheelers, PLEASE be careful because Little Michael lives with me.' I'm a crazy driver. I actually wrecked a bunch of the four wheelers with Little Michael with me. He was having so much fun."

Michael's Idol

As for Bhatti, he more than lived up to his nickname – dressing and moving just like Michael.

"I could tell little Michael idolized him," says Harlow. "[Omer] would say things like, 'I'm going to be a millionaire by the time I'm 20.' He was super ambitious; I remember he was very talented, and Michael would always say that."

Though many viewed Jackson's close relationship with children as inappropriate – he was tried on molestation charges, and acquitted, in 2005 – Harlow says Neverland holds only good memories for him.

"I would hang out at his place all the time, and we'd be dancing in front of the mirror together," Harlow, now 26, remembers. "One day and he turned to me and said, 'You've got a lot of nerve.' To him that meant I'm a bold person. I'm going to keep that in my heart."

Compared to the "is he his son" stories, this is more like it. Nice recount from Ricky Harlow about MJ and his time there. I didn't know he signed him to MJJ.

Dr. Conrad Murray -- Manslaughter Target

Posted Jul 24th 2009 9:20AM by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray -- Manslaughter TargetDr. Conrad Murray is now officially the target of a manslaughter investigation into the death of Michael Jackson.

A search warrant authorizing seizure of documents at a storage locker in Houston says law enforcement was hunting for "items constituting evidence of the offense of manslaughter that tend to show that Dr. Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offense."

The person who runs the facility says people from Murray's office visited the storage locker six times -- the last time the morning of Jackson's death.

We've been reporting for several weeks ... the LAPD has been treating Michael Jackson's death as a homicide and Dr. Murray was the focus of the investigation for possibly fueling the singer with a lethal dose of the powerful anesthesia Propofol.

Jackson's Death 'Almost Certainly' a Homicide

Posted Jul 24th 2009 2:15AM by TMZ Staff

Michael Jackson's DeathLaw enforcement sources tell us the L.A. County Coroner is scheduled to release the autopsy results in Michael Jackson's death next week, and the cause of death will "almost certainly" be homicide -- death at the hands of another.

We're told the Coroner himself will make the call mid-week, after he gets the final toxicology report from an outside consultant. But based on the draft report as well as what has become "clear evidence," causes other than homicide -- natural, accidental, accidental overdose, and suicide -- have been ruled out.

We've already reported that for weeks, the LAPD has treated Jackson's death as a homicide. They have served multiple criminal search warrants -- most recently at Dr. Conrad Murray's Houston medical office. Dr. Murray is actively being investigated as the person who may have administered the powerful anesthesia Propofol to Jackson the day he died.

We're told both the Coroner and LAPD have significant evidence that Propofol caused Jackson's heart to stop.

Jermaine Receives Humanitarian Award for Michael in Austria
July 24

Michael Jackson would have made more important achievements as a musician and philanthropist had his life not been cut short, his brother Jermaine said Friday, who was in Vienna to receive a posthumous award on behalf of the US pop star.

At the Save the World Awards, which are given out for the first time this year, Michael Jackson was selected because of his charity work, the organizers said.

Jermaine and his musical siblings were raised in the spirit of helping others, he said at a press conference: "Our message was to try to heal the world, to change the world."

Michael Jackson's three children would now also brought up with a humanitarian philosophy in mind, and would not be pushed towards any specific career, Michael's older brother indicated.

"We feel that it is more important for them to be raised in the right way" so that they would become "great human beings," he said.

Their grandmother Katherine has temporary custody over Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, born in 2002.

The awards to be presented at Zwentendorf near Vienna are an offshoot of the World Awards initiated by public relations professional Georg Kindel, and financed by an Austria-based consumer fund, Superfund.

Jermaine Jackson said he had a list of all the donations his brother made over the course of his career, but did not provide any details. He said Michael had donated proceeds from his tours.

Other honourees include SOS Children's Villages for orphaned and disadvantaged children, the environmental group Greenpeace, and US athletics legend Carl Lewis, who has founded a charity for children.

US actress and model Andie MacDowell was the host of the evening.

Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest on June 25.

Jermaine did not answer a question about current investigations of manslaughter against his brother's personal doctor.

Dr. Murray's People Scramble for Files

Posted Jul 24th 2009 11:48AM by TMZ Staff

Two people went to Dr. Conrad Murray's storage facility at 11:22 AM Houston time the day Michael Jackson died and took files from the storage and put them in two cars.

We're told the women who picked up the material took 3 to 5 boxes and other items. The two women are sisters who worked for the doctor, according to their grandmother. They came to the storage facility in a Mercedes and there was a car that followed them. The women were there for 30 minutes.

The timing is interesting. It was 9:22 AM Los Angeles time when the women showed up. Dr. Murray called 911 at 12:21 PM. The question -- what time did Dr. Murray realize Jackson was in distress?
