Sony Pictures has paid $60 million for the rights to release a movie of footage shot during Michael Jackson's rehearsals for his This Is It concert tour, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film will hit theaters October 30. According to other reports, AEG Live, which is said to have 80 hours of rehearsal footage at its disposal, and Jackson's family will split Sony's money, with Jackson's family receiving 90 percent of the fee and establishing a charity in the late singer's name.

If MJ was as frail and drugged out of his mind as people are saying, this footage isn't going to be something that's going to be celebrated. Its going to showcase how pitiful his last days were.

They may find a way to cover it up if the drug stories are true. I still don't understand their reasoning behind this.

You know Joe and Leonard might have have made a valid point about AEG afterall. Yes Leonard is shady and has his share of baggage, but I still think Leonard and Joe were looking out for Michael's well-being and were trying to protect him from bludsucka AEG even if they had their interests too. I heard they were trying to get Michael into Rehab (with everyone else in the family), but it was too late by then and Michael had passed away.

Mike should've looked out for himself.

That's what I'm worried about.

At the same time, I heard that the TV special all those networks were negotiating actually had no Michael rehearsal footage.

Michael didn't really have any close allies like that. He didn't trust a lot of people.

A search conducted today on the Houston office of Michael Jackson's doctor ended with federal agents seizing a forensic image of a computer's hard drive and 21 documents, reports the New York Times. Officers entered the Armstrong Medical Clinic in North Houston this morning to search the offices of Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. As onlookers and news helicopters hovered, they loaded bags of confiscated evidence into police cars. A lawyer for Dr. Murray, Ed Chernoff, confirmed that the law inforcement officials had a warrant authorizing them to "search for and seize items, including documents, they believed constituted evidence of the offense of manslaughter.” Murray is one of several doctors currently under investigation in the wake of Jackson's death.

We'll have to see what the movie will look like. Im not even sure how they are going to use the footage. A documentary? A concert film? Im not sure.

That TV special also got dropped, because it contained no Michael rehearsal footage and just documentary.

That's another thing concerning me about this film. Will Michael even be on it at all? Who would wanna watch that shit? They see it expecting to see Michael and if they don't see him, they'll be pissed as fuck demanding their money back. At the time of that dreaded 'r' word, do you think people would waste money watching a documentary of a show that was never to be anyway? lol

Yes its different, but then why would they not being showing any footage of Michael behind the scenes though in their TV special even if they weren't showing rehearsal footage.?

I really don't understand what's going on.

Michael couldn't live and NOT do those shows because AEG would have to refund the tickets. 40 percent of people have opted for commerative tickets? Thats about 30 million pounds worth of reasons right there!! There have been 15 million albums sold since he died. If he cancelled and lived, those albums would not have been sold. He would have seriously damaged his credibility and future earning power had he lived and cancelled because people would have just thought he was faking. If he had of survived that cardiac arrest the haters would've had a field day on these boards. There was huge pressure on those first dates to be fantastic, maybe the risk was too great that he was not going to be up to it. Bad reviews would've further hurt his legacy. The timing and circumstances are far too suspicious. He had a f**king cardiac arrest with a cardiologist in the house on the scene. A cardiologist you're paying didn't have a f**king defibrilator in the house?? Stinks to high heaven.

They are two separate ventures.

The film is to be a documentary about the Tour, the lead up etc.

The TV show was going to be the staging of the concert with other stars singing various MJ songs with the band, dancers and staging. (however the TV rights did does not include access to any footage of MJ).

Copycat

Narcotic painkillers like Demerol can trigger cardiac arrest, according to medical experts. AEG has stated that MJ strongly insisted the company hire Dr Murray because in Michael's words he and Murray "had a rapport".
