you know what's played out? her collaborating with hip young producers. what she needs to do is collaborate with some SONGWRITERS before she goes into the studio with a producer. the melodies and lyrics have been REALLY weak the last couple albums.

and also, she needs to start SANGIN' her songs again, instead of this thin, weak "vocal traiing" b.s. that we've been getting for so long. before, she wasn't the best singer, but she really put a song across, made you feel it. made you think SHE felt it. this thin, pinched, trained voice she's been using is just boring.

I fully agree. She should stop writing her songs with producers. In the 80s she had her biggest songs, because she worked with real songwriters or was provided with songs by songwriters.

Since Pettibone she's got the habit to let people produce tracks for her, so that she can work ozt melodies over them.

One of her best ballads imo is You'll See, and it was written with David Foster.

Bring back Leonard! I almost forgot that he co-wrote "Frozen (and others from "Ray Of Light"). They worked great together.

I think that's the musical that still hasn't happened (but things like that take years). I forget the title but it was set in the 40s. I guess "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" was written for it (although that song sounds very modern).

SoulAlive, seems to me, that we both are two of HC's BIGGEST fans, no?

What many don't realize is, that especially PW brought the black/pop quality of her first record back. He brought the fun back, melodies, fun!

I can't stop comparing HC to the wanna-be dance album COADF, which so many love. I was more into Prince when it was released, so don't connect personal memories with the album, but I still think about it what I did 4 years ago: 4 amazing pop songs, and the rest??

I have nothing against Eurotrash as you call it, but I prefer actual melodies and so far the chorus is sooo boring and the chords, the instrumentation is nothing special, no surprises as there were with songs like Incredible (!!! do you remember the mega-surprise the second part kicked in)??

I guess I"m a Eurotrash person since I love every song on Confessions! Its one of her best records. Confessions to me had great melodies.
I guess I don't like surprises if Incredible is an example. It's a mess! It sounds so disjointed.
It was good for her to try something different but to me the stuff on HC didn't work at all.
People say it's similar to her first record, but I don't see it. Her first record was more dance, not R&B and hip hop influenced.

SoulAlive

"Heartbeat","Miles Away","Give It To Me" and "Beat Goes On" music

These four songs are exactly what I want from Madonna. It's a good sound for her.I'd rather that she stick with this style for awhile, instead of going back to a predictable Eurodisco sound.

those songs did not start as part of a documentary about Malawi. they were from various films and stage productions she was writing/producing. Hello Suckers being the name of one of the stage shows.

i'm aware. Hello Suckers is the only musical project that i know of. she was working on it with Joe Henry and Patrick Leonard. I don't know why I Am Because You Are ended up in the conversation.

IABWA is no acronym, because you can't pronounce it as one single word. Acronyms are Laser, Aids, Nato, dink, Bingo, OPEC, Sars.

M did work on two musicals in 2004, Hello Suckers and another one. Pat worked with Madonna during that time.

What I said is, that he also wrote the score for IABWA. I said nothing about the musicals.

: a word (as NATO, radar, or laser) formed from the initial letter or letters of each of the successive parts or major parts of a compound term ; also : an abbreviation (as FBI: initialism

no according to Websters' Dictionary the authority of the American Lexicon an acronym:: a word (as NATO, radar, or laser) formed from the initial letter or letters of each of the successive parts or major parts of a compound term ; also : an abbreviation (as FBI: initialism)

which means errant was correct in calling IABWA an acronym.

I've always thought acronym and an abbreviation are different. To me an acronym is something that can be pronounced as a word like Nato or AIDS. An abbreviation is something where you can only say it by naming the individual letters like FBI. Therefore IABWA would be an abbreviation, not an acronym.
