Michael McDonald "Blink Of An Eye" (1993) ...
I wasn't a big fan of Mike's "Motown" albums , but I do think that one of his best (and Funkiest) albums was 1993's criminally underrated "Blink Of An Eye" -great tunes and an all-star cast of musicians. Unfortunately, the only Youtube representation of the title tune was some fan that set it to a Taylor Hicks montage --WTF????? Sorry about that, folks! Well,if you can ignore the video, dig the audio!(Funky Chorus, too!) Michael McDonald - Organ, Synths, Vocals Manu Katche - Drums John Robinson - Drums Pino Palladino - Bass Greg Phillinganes - Piano, Keyboards Bernie Chevaliere - Slide Guitar Paul Jackson, Jr - Guitar Robben Ford - Guitar Lenny Castro - Percussion "Sweat Pea" Atkinson - Background vocals Arnold McCuller - Background vocals Kirk Whalum (tenor saxophone); Brandon Fields (alto saxophone) Lee Thornberg (trumpet), Wallace Roney (trumpet), Bruce Fowler (trombone), Chuck Findley (flugelhorn) ... Yeah, I saw that--I dig that live version, but I always thought the recorded version had more oomph to it.... ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout | |
