New Raphael Saadiq Video for "Let's Take A Walk" You can see it here:
http://www.spinner.com/20...q|20090715 Raphael Saadiq's new grainy, black-and-white video, 'Let's Take a Walk,' echoes the song's classic soul sound with retro visuals that harken back to the mid-'60s. "I saw it like a Sixties retro look, but bring it up to like a dream sequence of the sixties," Saadiq tells Spinner. "They didn't really have that many dancers then." In Saadiq's video, however, there are 20 or so dancers. And with a bevy of bathing beauties clad in matching modest white bikinis and swimming caps, and stunning sequenced choreography, the video also pays homage to the great Hollywood musicals and the work of Busby Berkeley, who arranged the dancers to form a kaleidoscopic display. "It's a throwback to those old choreographers. The routine: In a circle with the sky cam pointing down, the girls legs kicking out, like synchronized swimming, but not in the pool," Saadiq says. The elegant film belies contemporary pop videos but the lyrics make no bones about the song's euphemistic title. "It gets straight to the point," he laughs. "This kind of music needs a punch like that in today's market. Punching up the dialog, punching up the lyrics makes people take notice."
