And HIStory is his most underrated album overall. It's basically perfection, and no one really recognizes or appreciates it. I think what MJ did vocally on "2000 WATTS" is amazing, a register he hadn't gone to before, very effective, very underrated.

I can see why, its so characteristic of sappy, corny Mike and so easy to laugh at, but I find this simple, sing songy song quite bizarre and charming in its own way. Its almost new age progressive in its rather lovely production values. Certainly nothing else like it in his catalogue melody wise.... The song also has a somewhat timeless appeal, like the song is 100's of years old or something. It certainly has not dated thats for sure. Mikes vocals on the middle 8 are sublime. You really feel Mike loves singing this sorta stuff. Its passionate. Its also quite haunting aswell. Beautiful, but haunting. The outro is kind of creepy, and proves furthermore how eccentric Mike could be if you let him LOL. This is the sort of song I wanted more from Mike. He has his rnb and pop cuts and we love them, but I wanted his left field, idiosyncratic slushy MOR, childlike songs like "the lost children", which probably has my fav production on any track off "invincible". It's very telling that Mike wrote, arranged and produced it himself. You also feel songs like this were his real labour of love. Prince Jackson is also on the track LOL. And it was nice to see Tom Bahler back doing the choir aswell. Gotta fuck the haters on this one LOL. Always did like it, but its seriously gone up even more in my estimation since I've been hearing it again. If i could of said anything to Mike, it would be I loved this song LOL. I know critics and fans ripped this songs heart out, and thats fair enough, but I love it LOL. Anyone else find this song charming? [Edited 7/15/09 17:49pm] This song is alright. But there's only so many times you want to hear this theme repeated in his music, especially after child molestation allegations. It's like... enough already. We got it the last 8 times you sang this under a different title. LOL I disagree and I like 'The Lost Children.' I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

To this day, I still listen to the track, and cannot believe that it didn't turn into a single/vid. It was clearly a sign of the bad decision making that was taking place - its safe to say that he was having the final word in a lot of his affairs up until the day he died, and was no longer making the great decisions he did 15 or so years ago. If he was, this would have been released as a single at some point. Maybe it wouldn't have gone no 1, but a top ten for sure. I hate the 'lost children', and 'little susie' and all that soft balladry that dogged his later years, especially when the songs were in the wake of 2 mollestation accusations. After surviving those ordeals, MJ should have totally shunned those type of underpinings in his songs (the children). Either that or go on some sort of clever marketing camapaign against child abuse, releasing material that was drenched in the kinda stuff that made it apparent to the public that this guy was indeed a victim, and always had the childrens' good at heart, and wanted his work to help the public get a greater awareness of the problem at hand. He never did any of this. He could have used his 'survival' from those allegations as a clever tool to jump back into the scene with some revived credibility. Anyway, just an opinion ofcourse, and let's not forget that Whatever Happens is great stuff.

Whatever Happens is one of his best songs ever. I would have given anything to see him perform it live. They would be on my essential MJ playlist. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Yeah it's a breathtaking song! The version I have has an unfinished bridge. If this song was polished off by Teddy Riley or someone and mixed properly, I feel it would be one of MJ's masterpieces. Anyone have a version that sounds finished? Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I heard he has a lot of unreleased material that I would love to hear. Otherwise, I think some of his songs on the "Invincible" and "History" album were underrated. Also "Xscape" "One More Chance" and "No Friend Of Mine".

i like that one a lot! It's very nice, but I prefer "HEAVEN CAN WAIT" of those 2 Teddy Riley productions. The midtempo and slow jams are definately the stronger portions of "INVINCIBLE"... "BUTTERFLIES" "BREAK OF DAWN" "CRY" "HEAVEN CAN WAIT" "DON'T WALK AWAY"

Tyrese, was working on this song with Teddy for his upcoming album with the same name. Michael heard the track and told Tyrese how much he liked it. Make a long story short, Tyrese gave MJ the track, and I believe he gets credited on the track. Tyrese's own CD, was left without a title track.
