I've always loved this song. And I've never gotten the hate. Maybe for the lyrics but the actual song is great. Could definitley see this is in a Peter Pan type movie. I can't believe anyone thinks this song is worse than Privacy. Now that is the all time worst Michael song

I was just listening to this song in the car and it really got to me at my core. It's really beautiful and I thought the same thing about it being timeless. It's sappy but pure and just really well done. Stronger than Heal the World I think or some of his other tunes of this sort. I also like that his voice has a little depth to it. It's moved up a few notches on my favorite MJ songs.

I feel the same way! I've always liked "The Lost Children" but I was too embarassed to admit it,lol.People say it's cheesy but I think it's very sincere and comes from his heart.I believe he wrote and produced it himself.

Thats what i love about Michael Jackson his songs can be so corny that your gringe. But it's because it's so raw and beautiful you become embarrassed.

And my vote is goes to...Be Not Always... This song just give me CHILLS down my spine.

WOW, that´s the quote of the year! Can I use it?

Another totally forgotten, yet such a beautiful song. Michael´s vocals make this song heavenly.

The funny this is, this was originally written for my Michael. He had laid down the background vocals and everything. He gave it to his nephews, cause they heard it and loved it.

I wouldn't call Give In To Me underrated. How many times have you heard a 7th single from an album going to number 2?

Not too many. "Love Will Never Do (Without You)" actually made it to #1 as the 7th single. "Leave Me Alone" reached #2 UK as the 8th single, but that one has extenuating circumstances.

The songs on Forever, Michael are underrated.I downloaded it last week and it's nice. I didn't even know that he had solo albums pre Off The Wall. I guess I was too young to know that. I like One Day In Your Life, Take Me Back, You are There, and Dear Michael.

I was thinking last night of how much I could not get into Black or White. It grew on me a bit thanks to the video and the 'yeah yeah yeah' part but I really don’t care for it. It’s definitely a contender for one of his worst songs. And that guitar. Ugh!

Anyway, maybe he could have done a children’s album or a lullaby album and put all the sappy stuff on one disc so it doesn’t interrupt the flow of the other albums. I think that would have been a sweet idea.

All of Michael's songs that were not released as singles are underrated. (Well, except for "Just Good Friends," "Keep The Faith," and "2000 Watts." lol I've tried and tried for many years, but I just can't get into those songs, lol.)

And HIStory is his most underrated album overall. It's basically perfection, and no one really recognizes or appreciates it.

"The Lost Children"

People hate this song something proper LOL. I can see why, its so characteristic of sappy, corny Mike and so easy to laugh at, but I find this simple, sing songy song quite bizarre and charming in its own way. Its almost new age progressive in its rather lovely production values. Certainly nothing else like it in his catalogue melody wise....

The song also has a somewhat timeless appeal, like the song is 100's of years old or something. It certainly has not dated thats for sure. Mikes vocals on the middle 8 are sublime. You really feel Mike loves singing this sorta stuff. Its passionate. Its also quite haunting aswell. Beautiful, but haunting. The outro is kind of creepy, and proves furthermore how eccentric Mike could be if you let him LOL.

This is the sort of song I wanted more from Mike. He has his rnb and pop cuts and we love them, but I wanted his left field, idiosyncratic slushy MOR, childlike songs like "the lost children", which probably has my fav production on any track off "invincible". It's very telling that Mike wrote, arranged and produced it himself. You also feel songs like this were his real labour of love. Prince Jackson is also on the track LOL. And it was nice to see Tom Bahler back doing the choir aswell.

Gotta fuck the haters on this one LOL. Always did like it, but its seriously gone up even more in my estimation since I've been hearing it again. If i could of said anything to Mike, it would be I loved this song LOL. I know critics and fans ripped this songs heart out, and thats fair enough, but I love it LOL.

Anyone else find this song charming?

My pic for most underrated:

OH YES! There was a short version of this that ended up on various 7" singles back in the Thriller days, called "You Can't Get Outta The Rain". But in reality, it's an extension of "You Can't Win" from The Wiz. The 12" version is very different in production that the movie version. The song goes on into the extended section of "You can't get outta the GAME", which extends the theme of the "You Can't Win" song. The 12" is superb, and yes it is on The Ultimate Collection. The first time it was ever released on CD. It is out on 12" if you dig around in a used shop. I've seen it here in Albany.

It's funky as hell. Def one of two top "under rated" picks.

I love this track. It's wicked. Reminds me of a scene in Frankenstein or something. It's almost like a follow up to the theme of Torture. I like the five new tracks on Blood On The Dance Floor. Very good work.

Edit: I'm surprised the press hasn't picked up this song and ran with it lately.

The lyrics are almost prophetic, and now, very scary.

He got flat baby
Kick in the back baby
A heart attack baby
I need your body

A hot kiss honey
He's just a bitch baby
You make me sick baby
So unrelying

I'm such a swine baby
All down the line daddy
I hate your kind baby
So unreliable

A hot buzz baby
He's one of us baby
Another drug baby
You so desire

Trust in me
Trust in me
Put all your trust in me
You're doin' morphine

Hoo!

They got place baby
Kicked in the face baby
You hate your race baby
You're just a liar

Your every lick baby
Your dog's a bitch baby
You make me sick baby
You soul survivor

She never cut from me
She never cut baby
I had to work baby
You just a rival

Always to please daddy
Right up and leave daddy
You're thorwing shame daddy
So undesirable

Trust in me
Just in me
Put all your trsut in me
You're doin' morphine

Go'on babe

Relax
This won't hurt you
Before I put it in
Close your eyes and count to ten
Don't cry
I won't convert you
There's no need to dismay
Close your eyes and drift away

Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol

He's tried
Hard to convince her
To be over what he had
Today he wants it twice as bad
Don't cry
I won't resent you
Yesterday you had his trust
Today he's taking twice as much

Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol
Hee-hee-hee
Demerol
Demerol
Oh my Oh God it's Demerol
Hee
Oooh

Oh!

He got shit baby
Your dog's a bitch baby
You make me sick baby
You are a liar

Is truth a game daddy
To win the fame baby
It's all the same baby
You're so reliable

Trust in me
Trust in me
Put all your trust in me
She's doin' morphine

Hoo!

You just sit around just talkin' nothing
You're takin' morphine
Hoo!
Go'on baby
You just sit around just talking about it
You're takin' morphine
Hoo-hoo!
Just sit around just talking nothing about it
You're takin' morphine
You just sit around just talking about it
You're taking morphine
You just sit around just talkin' nothin'
And takin' morphine

Hoo-hoo
I'm going down baby
You're talkin' Morphine

Go'on baby!

Along with the ones I commented on, here is another. It was on a bonus CD in the limited edition GHOSTS VHS (PAL, not NTSC), that also came with a programme, and a few other goodies. It had a couple of remixes, as well as this new song. I think it was from a Spike Lee movie or something. Get On The Bus?

It's a Babyface production, quite clearly, but I love it. The vocal layers, the hook in the chorus. Just good pop music.

I forget if it's on the Ultimate Collection, despite the pic shown in the video.

Just Good Friends is a fabulous track. THAT would have been a better duet w/ Prince than "Bad". Plus there are no booty! references to scare off the Minnesotan.

History does have it's moments of brilliance. Lot of singles and videos from the album too. Two vidz for "They Don't Care About Us", plus a great video for "Earth Song" (which was on the "TDCAU" enhanced CD single), "Scream" (yeah for JJ and MJ together at last, and the Flyte Tyme remix on Blood On The Dance Floor was even better), etc etc. I loved that whole era for him. It was a bright period for him.

Yes, it's from Get on the Bus and it's on The Ultimate Collection. I love it, too. music With that song, MJ worked with Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, and Babyface, probably the 3 biggest producers of the late '80s/early '90s. Not many artists can say that. I actually can't think of any of the top of my head.

lol I don't know, lol. It's not really hate at all, 'cause I love Michael, and Stevie is, as Michael said, "the musical prophet." But this particular composition just seems like it could have been better some how. To me, it sounds like an outtake that was put on the album at the last minute, lol. I've never really liked its music or vocal arrangement. shrug
