Am I the only one here whose REALLY digging Miss Millie Jackson??? Gawd this ol' cow is something else LOL My sistah bought her last effort today 'Not 4 church folks' and her GH LP 'Caught up/Still caught up' and maaannn I feel sooo stupid 4 noticing her now. My momma used to be a musician in her band(in the early 70's) but after she became muslim she lost intrest on music in general. As a kid who saw all this pix of my momma wit some celeb, I was filled wit [Curiosity] but of course I wasn't allowed to bring her stuff in the house(ya'll know why). But as I grew up I lost intrest on her till these days when I heard her interview in some radio st and played some of her early/new stuff? Boy lemme tell you,,,I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!! Now, her sh!t is the ONLY non-stop playing in my condo,,,LOL oh well just something I wanna share since I'm bored as hell!!

Oh yes!! Millie Jackson is OUTRAGEOUS!! To those of you who aren't familiar with her,you really need to check out a few of her CDs.She is raunchy, provocative, hilarious and yet she can sing her ass off! Her songs are honest and hard-hitting.
When I was a kid,I stumbled across one of my dads' 8-track tapes. It was the 1979 Millie Jackson album "A Moment's Pleasure".I was 10 years old and was *SHOCKED* to hear this woman cussing on her album, talking about sex so explicitly. It's easy to see why her songs rarely made it onto the radio...lol... Here are a few songs by her that I would recommend... ***"If Loving You Is Wrong(I Don't Wanna Be Right)"(1974)---y'all know this song by Luther Ingram, right? Well, check out Millie's version, with her infamous spoken "rap".She talks about the highs and lows of being the "other woman".According to her,"the best thing is,when you go to the laundry mat to do your laundry, you don't have to wash nobody's funky drawers but your own!" ***"This Is It"(1980)---This is Millie's version of the 1980 Kenny Loggins hit.Her version starts off with a long spoken rap,in which she takes on those lazy,non-working men who stay at home all day while their woman works."But you do have the winning situation, you are carrying around the all-mighty "CLUB"...we can not make it without the "CLUB"...can you find a way to bring the "CLUB" with you into the bedroom, instead of these wet noodles that should have stayed in the kitchen?".OUCH!!! ***"Phuck U Symphony"(1979)---Millie did a "Live" album at the end of 1979,aptly titled "Live and Outrageous".This song is Millie's answer to those people who buy her records but hide them when their friends come over.At the end of this hilarious cuss-fest,Millie laughs and says "Now y'all don't have to curse anymore...y'all can just buy my record and put it on!"...lol...

David already broke the matter down to the facts, I have nothing to add. "caught up" and the "live" album are my favorites.
