Abbey Road

My all time favorite Beatles album, I never tire of this 1969 release. The songs seem to flow effortlessly on this set and you know you're in for a treat when Coming Together opens the album. Other highlights include the two Harrison penned tracks Something and Here Comes The Sun. My favorite set of album begins with the exquisite harmonizing of Because and does not let up until albums end with Her Majesty. The two medleys are so impressive because they take you through so many moods and they convey different ideas and narratives. Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window are some of my all time favorite Beatles songs/snippets. The aforementioned Sun King is so impressive to me because of the dream like feel created by the bassline, guitars, kick drum and dream like vocals. Whats more impressive is how the medleys come full circle with Carry that Weight reprising You Never Give Me Your Money. Abbey Road displays that although the Beatles could not stand each other at the time, they could still record a timeless album.

Dayyum, DPWasCool, you're picking some albums to-dayyy!

Ever notice how McCartney changes his bass playing phrasing during the second verse of "She Came Into The Bathroom Window"? It's different from the first verse, it's FUNKY! Listen. nod There are a couple of clunkers on side 1 to me, but side 2 is as good as it gets with the Beatles.

Meshell Ndegéocello was at one time talking about assembling a band and calling them Polythene Pam. That would be cool. biggrin

Yeah, freakin' great album. I don't play it enough these days but i guess that's b'cos i know every note of it anyway. What an album to end a bands' career with! I prefer Revolver and The Beatles (white album) but only just.

My fave songs from Abbey Road:

Come Together
Something
Oh! Darling
I Want You (she's so heavy)
Here Comes The Sun
Because
The End
Her Majesty.

Would be a good one for Prince to do but I can't see it happening as Michael Jackson has already bagged that one (for Moonwalker film and HIStory CD).
So this probably won't happen...

One of my two fave Beatle albums. Other being The White Album. Love the whole thing (minus Octopus' Garden)...side 2 is sheer briiliance!

Prince should stay away from a cover of Come Together...no one will come close to the original. The only ones that came close was Aerosmith.

MJ's SUCKED...a fucking slaughter of a song. I am STILL pissed about that freak of nature owning all those Beatles tunes.

John Lennon wasn't the most stable of individuals either.

I think Lennon definately had some issues he dealt with all his life...but unstable? I don't think so. MJ has some major problems with his self-image and I consider him to very unstable. I REALLY hope he's got a good shink.

I think Lennon's major issue (later in his life) was that he was absolutely pussy whipped by Yoko. I read the autobiography of Levon Helms from The Band, and he mentioned in it that Lennon was completely "hen pecked", when John & Yoko stayed at Levon's house during the Toronto Peace Festival.

Stable people don't turn to heroin. I'm not trying to belittle your comments but Lennon was clearly a fuck-up.
Great talent tho'.
