DA WRECKA STOW-Dallas, Tx Vinyl Dig so... I was in Dallas over the weekend
and, of course, I stopped by HALF PRICE BOOKS I didn't do too bad.... I was lookin for mainly Jacksons/MJJ stuff... and there was NONE the lil bit they did have was behind the register and priced ridiculously... the Thriller VHS which normally goes for $20 is 8 times that much @ $160 anyway, onto the vinyl: ($5.98) this was actually the first one I spotted out!!! ($4) this... is Klymaxx's first album I believe I've never heard anything from here so it was cool to find... plus it's never been opened!!! ($4) Tom Browne is a great musician this is his Rockin' Radio album of '83 I got a few of his albums already but only song I recognize when I hear it is "Funkin' 4 Jamaica" ($3.98) Natalie Cole's Unpredictable album I already have it.. but this looked near mint! and besides... this is my favorite Natalie album ($1) I had this one too, but I sold it back a while ago... well.. I picked this up again because it's near mint condition ($3.98) this is one of my favorite Patrice Rushen albums and one of my fondest childhood memories I remember one day I come home from pre-school my sister had this album sittin on my bed (I loooooved "Feel So Real" as a kid... it's still one of my favorite songs ever) I was like a kid in a record store LOL ($1) I almost pee'd my pants when I seent this this is the 12" for "Hey Young World Pt. II" by Macy Gray & Slick Rick OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! ($1) this was somewhat of a blind buy Joni Mitchell's Wild Things Run Fast album I love Joni... so that was one reason and the 2nd reason is because "Ladies Man" is on here as ya'll know Chaka Khan remade it for Funk This I've never heard Joni's version.. but Chaka murked it so this should be interesting to hear ($1) once again, Joni Mitchell.. Court & Spark one of her most celebrated albums I have a copy of this... but this one was better condition... @ "Twisted" ($4) last but not least, a TOTALLY BLIND BUY I know of Ronnie... I adore the Laws' family especially Hubert, Debra & Ronnie but I've never heard this album... it's from '78 never been opened either [Edited 7/12/09 20:48pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Good finds especially natalie. The Klymaxx album you have
is actually their fourth which follows their 3rd and most popular album Meeting in the ladies room. The Klymaxx album you have wasn't as radio popular as the prior album but it netted 3 pretty good radio singles Sexy which was co written with George Clinton, I'd still say yes duet w/ Howard Hewett, and Divas Need love too. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Some solid work from their debut-project, "Never Underestimate..." album is posted on Youtube. Their first 3 projects are my fave with the tight Solar funk : DirtyChris said ($4) Tom Browne is a great musician this is his Rockin' Radio album of '83 I got a few of his albums already but only song I recognize when I hear it is "Funkin' 4 Jamaica" I've mixed these 2 tracks below on tapes back in the day. This was her first album which she recorded in her home-studio. She told during an interview that she was glad to record it that way because it gave her more creative freedom and time to complete the project the way she had in her mind. Apart from "Feels So Real", there's not much of the album posted on Youtube. The solid bass on that track is played by Freddie "Ready" Washington. She produced the album with Charles Mims,Jr. : My faves are : - "Feels So Real (Won't Let Go)" - "Get Off (You Fascinate Me)" - "Gotta Find It" - "Heartache, Heartbreak" - "Perfect Love" - "To Each His Own" http://www.amazon.com/gp/...fix=dp_img http://www.amazon.com/Now...0&sr=103-3 DirtyChris said: ($4) last but not least, a TOTALLY BLIND BUY I know of Ronnie... I always see Patrice's Now on vinyl but almost every single time it has someone's name plastered all cross the front of the artwork (that musta been one helluva album at the time that you had to label yo shit like that to prevent folks from stealing it LOL) and finally, I found a near mint copy!!! aside from Jill it was my favorite find! now if I could only find a mint copy of Inseperable... then another copy of the Peabo/Natalie duets album.. I'll have all the Capitol stuff on vinyl @Shango - you're the best for posting all those clips... thank you! this prevents me from having to hook up my turntable right this moment... cool tidbit bout Patrice recording Now in her home.. you like most of the ones I like my absolute favorite is "Gone With The Night" I am in love with that song heavy for some reason "Gotta Find It" & "Heartache Heartbreak" are dreamy too @Cin - yeah man... I had to scoop them up it was funny about Natalie Cole tho because I JUST got rid of the Natalie one like maybe a month or so ago @SA - thanx... I'll have to play "High In Me" sometime soon I don't think I've paid that one much attention *goes to play "Gone With The Night"* because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I'm reading the album liner notes
for Patrice's Now at the moment and I see that Syreeta Wright (the late & great) wrote "High In Me".. cool I know she wrote for Straight From The Heart as well I sure wish I could find some Syreeta on vinyl for a change LOL I never see either one of her first 2 albums NEVER... I saw the debut in DC back in 2004 and kick myself in the ass everytime I think about leaving it there because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

In this case i clicked on my iTunes since my vinyl is temporarily stored till my apartment is fixed lol. I occasionally skipped some tracks from "Now" in the past but today i rechecked "Superstar" which has that trademark new wave vibe and the part which got me hooked even more was when she started playing a solo. Almost wanted to post here a Youtube-clip from a live-version of "Heartache, Heartbreak", performed by some serious Minneapolis cats. It was a trip to hear that magical keyboard-intro played live, but unfortunately the male lead-singer doesn't imo capture that vocal magic which Patrice does. [Edited 7/13/09 12:55pm]
