AVANT doing Sailing : /

You know I understand appreciating a song but some music should be left alone
he re-did a classic in my book.

SAILING by CHRISTOPHER CROSS biggrin

No, he's glad he's collecting another check.

I don't think Avant's is that bad. I'm not a big fan of his, but I do think he did a good job with the remake (even if it was a forced remake by the record company).

i'd rather hear a mediocre remake of a song i like than a new song i can't stand and turn the station

it wasnt a bad remake..it makes you long to hear the original tho...I remember when this song first came out, Steve Harvey was debuting it as "the first song in a long time to sound better than the original." umm..ok

Copycat

This song is a glaring example of the lack of vision, creativity and originality plaguing contemporary R & B.

shrug It's okay. The vocal flourishes he adds to the song to sort of put his on stamp on it sound a little silly and unnecessary. Certainly nothing worth listening to more than once or twice, but at least now I can say I've heard something by Avant. grandpa

I would venture to say popular music.

He should go "sailing" and tip over and never be heard of again.

Remember back in the days when Christopher Cross (before MJJ's Thriller album came out) was suppose to be THE future of pop music?!? Well, he didn't even last passed 1982 from what I noticed during my childhood years. rolleyes lol

And that was a BIG hit for him. He kind of faded away....probably on purpose. He has continued to release music and play festivals, so somebody likes his stuff.

No wonder I forgotten about THAT^ one. Thriller-mania was in 1983. And MJJ already killed Christopher's career by then! lol
