I personally beleive that Prince's death will not have the same effect as Michael's. Michael and Prince were 2 different musical personalities. Michael was very personable and friendly and Prince(prior to 1997 maybe) has come off as aloof and anti-social.

Michael's music was way more easier to digest whereas Prince's music was more of a challenge because he defied conventions in an effort to appease no one and he didnt mind telling you that.

Michael wanted everyone to listen to him. Prince did to, but on his terms.

I think Michael Jackson's death should be a big thing. Michael was such a beloved character. Its just that people refuse to beleive that Michael himself went from being that highly loved character to being a caricature of himself all in the span of a decade or so.

I think Michael is absoultely loving all the adoration that has been afforded him since his death. Lets face it, Michael was a media/publicity whore. He loved attention. I think a lot of it is deserved. There will never be another Michael Jackson. However, I think a Prince funeral will be with little or no fanfare at his request whereas Michael would love to go out in style as the innovative, creative, frightening and self-loathing enigma that he was.
