Prince...when he dies...

Prince will do the opposite of what MJ did.....quiet.....and no fanfare....but more people will feel Prince because he is more real..than MJ....Prince will have a cool, really not big fanfare....cause that is the way HE would have wanted it....what do the FAMS think???

I agree with all your post except the bit in bold. Prince's passing will generate nowhere near as much sypmathy as MJ's. No one's will.

I couldn't agree more with you, Calhoun. Michael did not do anything, his fans and family paid tribute to him. What's with all of the underlying comparisons, between the two.

lol That was my first reaction too, but I think what he/she meant to say was that Prince wouldn't want all that fanfare.

As a Prince fan, I don’t really get it. I could give a hot damn if sent his condolences to the Jackson family or honors him in concert, etc. And while he is greatly loved there will not be global grief.

I don't believe Michael would have wanted "fanfare", either,(If you call, what took place, "Fanfare"). What took place, when he died, was people paying their respects to him. As for the memorial, the only thing Michael would have wanted, and got, was that people see him as a somebody who was loved and was human. Until that memorial, people forgot that he was someone's brother, father, etc. People saw him as some freak, the memorial, in a funny way, showed him a in different light. It surprises me when you say that someone, who was once as outlandish as Prince, would not want all of the "fanfare", as you call it. A part of me thinks, that he would love it, though. With that being said, can't we mourn, a person's passing without all of the ridiculas comparisons between the two?

Right, so Prince would love it, but not Michael?

God, this whole discussion is mad. If ever a thread needed to be locked.....

Right, so Prince would love it, but not Michael?

I think Michael, both old and new would have wanted to shy away from it, unlike the Prince of old, who would have ate it up!!

Oh sure fams, keep believing that. Only Obama, Paul McCartney or Madonna would get that type of coverage and outpouring of grief. Prince is great and loved of course, but not on a massive worldwide level like MJ was and that's a fact, but why must everything still be a competition even in death? Notice MJ fans aren't the ones starting these threads for the most part. That says a lot to me. Why so insecure and jealous? MJ is gone, why the need to continue on with this foolishness?

I hate that some people seem to feel threatened that Michael Jackson's death and subsequent fanfare somehow diminishes Prince and his legacy. They are/were apples and oranges in life and will be so in death. Another thing--I never thought being more popular or celebrated equaled being "greater". Let's get a grip and just appreciate Prince while we still have him.

There is no entertainer alive that will get the type of fanfare that MJ got. Not Oprah, Paul McCartney or Madonna.
