The family should really repay the city for the $1.2 million. Taxpayers should not have to pay . . . not ever, but especially not in this economy.

The family has no money at all

plus even if they sell the atv catalog and pay taxes they wont have money to pay off the debt.

of course in 5-10yrs there will be net positive money coming in

they will rush out few thing anyway. I'm most keen on new material.

They are cousins, because they're Michaels kids. Biologically I do not believe them to be related though. I'm sorry I don't see the resemblence. To me Blanket looks racially mixed with a Native American/Asiatic Islander kind of blood, like Miko. Whereas Jermajesty looks racially mixed with African blood.

There were those who argued that the Jackson memorial might have brought more money into the local economy than it cost.

Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., said his group estimated that the memorial brought about $4 million to local businesses in the form of food sales, parking, miscellaneous shopping and hotel stays. (Source: LA Times)

Exactly. The people in charge who dont want to pay for this only don't because they don't like Michael Jackson. How does this memorial end up costing in the millions anyway? How does the security really end up being millions? I just dont get where these cost go. The memorial wasn't even that long.

Jackson May Play London After All, Via Footage
By Bryan Alexander / Los Angeles

Michael Jackson would have turned 51 on Aug. 29, and the promoters of his planned "This Is It" tour are hoping to celebrate with a concert. It would take place in London and feature Jackson's rehearsal footage and appearances by members of his family. In other words, it would be a Michael Jackson concert — with all the ingredients except the King of Pop himself.

This is more than a tribute, this is Michael's last masterpiece," Randy Phillips, CEO of AIG Live, told TIME. "The obvious date is August 29 — it's his birthday, and that's what we're shooting for." Phillips says the show would include "the brothers, possibly Janet" and the existing band against a backdrop of hours of Jackson video. The location: London's 02 Arena, where the tour was originally supposed to start on July 13.

While talks with the family are still very preliminary, their initial response to involvement with the show has been "excellent," says Phillips. "They like the idea of taking their brother's last work and showing it to the world," he says. (The Jackson family spokesperson declined to comment on this story.) Phillips says Rev. Al Sharpton even mentioned August 29 to him as a good date over drinks at the Four Seasons.

Phillips, who plans to sit down this weekend with Jackson's choreographer Kenny Ortega to "figure it out conceptually," envisions it as a singular "pay-per broadcast vehicle."

"This show would be 'This Is It,'" he says. "The only thing missing would be Michael Jackson in person."

The producers had spent $15 million filming 130 hours of footage of Jackson's rehearsals, including three songs in 3D, which would be incorporated into the concert.

As for Michael Jackson's reigning final show — Tuesday's world-televised memorial — cost estimates came in significantly less than expected. But the question remains: who's going to pick up the tab? The City of Los Angeles spent about $1.4 million on all aspects of the memorial, city officials announced yesterday. This includes clean-up, traffic diversion costs and overtime pay for the more than 4,000 police officers asked to secure various venues. That's good news in view of the $2.5 million to $4 million estimates, and it's less than June's Los Angeles Lakers' pride parade, which cost $2 million.

A big reason for the relatively low price tag: the lack of unticketed fans showing up at the Staples Center. City officials and memorial organizers had feared thousands would descend on Los Angeles to pay tribute to Jackson. "People listened to the warning and just stayed home," Michael Roth, Vice President of Communications for AEG Live told TIME. "There were less than 1,000 fans down here." Due to the unexpectedly low turnout, extra police officers were dismissed and there was simply less of a mess to clean up.

Still, the balance remains to be settled. The L.A. attorney's office is investigating how the cash-strapped city got stuck with the bill — and how it can press other parties to chip in. Officials have reached out to members of the Jackson family, though their response is as yet unknown.

A municipal website seeking donations from the public received $17,000 before experiencing "frequent and prolonged server crashes," according to a press release issued by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office. The Mayor's office has asked fans to revisit the website now that it is up and running again. Roth says the city reached out to AEG to chip in as well. "I know they contacted us initially," he said. "I couldn't tell you how much further it has progressed."

AEG's Phillips pointed out the company spent as much as the city (about $1.2 million to $1.5 million) putting on the free event for the public, covering ticketing expenses and the like. The company could defray some of its own costs with memorial DVD or CD sales, but Phillips declined to discuss specifics. "We have had a lot of calls about that," he says of memorial DVDs.

Meanwhile, the location of Michael Jackson's remains and where they will ultimately end up are also unanswered questions. Jackson's gold-plated coffin was on view Tuesday on the floor of the Staples Center. Now contradictory media reports have the body headed for its final resting place at either Forest Lawn Cemetery or Michael's Neverland ranch.

Mark Miller, a former manager of The Jacksons, says the mischievous Michael would have enjoyed the guessing game this new riddle has inspired in the press.

"Second only to a funeral procession down Main Street of Disneyland, Michael would probably be delighted with his family playing a media game of 'Where's Waldo?' with his casket," Miller said. "Michael would absolutely have loved it."

I just want to say that since Michael Jackson died those kids have been shoved in front of the media, the masks have come off and their privacy has been completely exposed. One thing Jackson got very right was protecting these kids and keeping them out of the media spotlight. Maybe not the mask thing but he didn't put them in front of a mike and tell them to "speak louder," Now his kids are being paraded like circus animals.

How could the mask thing not be right? They are the whole reason that they had any privacy at all and were out of the media spotlight away from Michael. Everyone went crazy mad at him for doing it but it was the best thing he ever did for their privacy. If they didnt understand why they had to wear them then I bet they sure as hell know why now.

Michael Jackson Remembered:
Chris Cornell on the Power of "Billie Jean"

07/09/08

"The main memory I have of Michael Jackson is from when I was a kid. When you're a child and you see another child on TV with other brothers who are basically children — and I had two brothers — and you see what they're doing, and listening to the music they're making, it kind of knocks you out. That was the initial impact, that that was even possible. Especially being a kid from Seattle, where you're nowhere near any sort of media center and have no understanding of that type of popular culture and where it comes from or how it's created. You think it comes from some other planet.

The next thing that had a clear impact was when I was already a musician, probably about 18 years old, and was working in restaurants but was also starting different bands at the time, and was obviously watching MTV all the time, just to see what was on it. I wasn't a fan of most of it. Then, "Thriller" happened, and to see that shift from pretty much an entirely white audience watching an entirely white music channel change because of this one guy — he didn't just get some videos sent there, like me and my friends did on 120 Minutes at 1 a.m. on a Sunday — he took over. His videos were played the same amount Madonna videos were played. I remember the first two, especially, had an amazing energy. "Beat It" was an incredible video. Here is this guy who used to seem so shy and quiet comes out super-aggressive and there's actual gang members in it. It opened the door for Prince and Run-DMC to suddenly be in the living rooms of white people across the nation.

The brilliance of "Billie Jean" came to me when I was reading the lyrics for the first time, which was around the time that I was doing that arrangement, and the idea came from a conversation I had with my wife about the art of the cover song, because she would bring up ideas about songs I should cover, and I would always shoot 'em down, and I would explain the art of it: You can cover a song by an artist you are obviously influenced by and you will reproduce it, paying homage to it, and sticking close to the original. That's one way, the other way is Johnny Cash doing "Rusty Cage," which on paper sounds like the most ridiculous fucking idea you'll hear in your life. It did to me.

So she sort of challenged me with, what would that song be for you, and I thought well, who would be the least likely artist for me to attempt to cover and the first name that popped into my head was Michael Jackson. I liked "Billie Jean" because it had that little keyboard line in it, which I thought I could turn into an electric guitar line. And it was just embarrassingly awful. When I started reading the lyrics, I realized it's a lament, not a dance track. His moon walking and the video as well, as just the bass line and the beat, took precedence over the meaning. The lyrics are brilliant, and the way that the way the lyrics are put together. The story isn't spoon-fed to you, it's poetic."

Yes the kids looked alot like Michael at the memorial but in all other pictures of them, even the pictures captured after the event they didnt look that dark or that much like him. When I saw the memorial I thought to myself DAMN those are his kids. But then I saw the other pictures of them elsewhere and they just dont look the same. It's weird. But then again when I look at other pictures of the memorial even Brooke and the other white people looked dark.

Hell yeah! I thought I was the only one who noticed that! whofarted The hell they look light (Paris had fucking red hair too!) in a few instances and then all of a sudden all of them look like light-skinned black kids with long hair! hmm

These are not Michael's children. I don't care how you squint your eyes or and look sideways. They are not his biological children. If he had vitiligo and lupus, it made a lot of sense not to produce sperm to form a child. no no no!

A while back I read Michael was strongly thinking about adopting another child. It's a good thing that didn't happen. Everybody keeps saying Blanket favors Michael but I don't believe he is Michael's biological kid either.

They are his children because he adopted them.

Actually, there's noting idiotic about his statement. First of all, we don't know what the question was to judge the context of his answer. Although for a number of decades, Deepak has written and spoken extensively about how our own spiritual self awareness can lead to greater synchronicity not only in our immediate environment, but throughout the world. He already wrote a book about this, the central theme being that if the globe could amass a majority with this heightened level of spiritual consciousness, devoted to healing our minds, bodies, the environment, sustaining economies, helping developing nations, etc.,then we would have less to fight over, and thus less international conflicts.

Additionally, anyone who is familiar with Deepak Chopra's books(and his children's work by extension) is intimately familiar with his themes in the New Thought Movement that center on joy, divine love, and peace which are a direct result of individual and universal heightened consciousness.

For whatever personal demons Michael Jackson suffered while here, we can at least say that through his music and humanitarian efforts he was person who absolutely embodied the priciples that Chopra has been teaching for over 20 years as bestselling author, a professor at Tufts, Harvard, Boston U, and arguably one of the most esteemed contemporary philosophers of modern times. Out of the dozens of books he's written, one comes to realize it's not that far of a stretch to look at cultural icon like Jackson, the public message his music and quiet activism represented and understand what Chopra is actually trying to say about human interdependence and how we can affect each other, and affect positive change in the world.

At any rate, one thing I'm learning from the hoopla surrounding Jackson's death, or any other public figure is that it's generally best to watch to watch these types of interviews and the subject is actually speaking, and in its' entirety. It's too easy to twist the context or misrepresent the person quoted. This is not only unfair to interview subject, the person interviewed, but it also disrespects the audience as it undermines our intelligence, and our ability to give informed opinions.

[Edited 7/10/09 0:25am]

Everything I've ever read or seen by any of these Chopras, whether it's aimed a the buying public or celebrity figures, just SCREAMS opportunism. They use celebrity associations to sell their books, their cult, whatever it is. They may or may not have a nice message to spread, but they are first and foremost opportunists out to make a buck and draw attention to themeslves in everything they do. there is nothing more profitable with less effort and substance put into it than selling new age religion to people, including celebrities, in need of guidance.

The article about Kim Jong Il is absolutely ridiculous. The only purpose it really serves is for this person to say "Oh, hey, I knew Michael Jackson so well, we used to talk on the phone." Gotham Chopra should be ashamed of himself to drag the serious situation of his friend being held hostage and sentenced to hard labor in a country we may well be going to war with to glorify himself or his dead celebrity friend.

he chalks the idea of the divine peace love and positivity released into the universe by Michael Jackson's death to possibly being naive. yeah, it might be that. maybe he's just caught up in the moment and gone retarded and in 6 months he'll slap his forehead doh! and say "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

but considering the m.o. of that family, i doubt it's anything as innocent as that.

Jackson Docs Not Cooperating, Coroner Claims

Posted Jul 10th 2009 10:35AM by TMZ Staff

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ two doctors who treated Michael Jackson have not been forthcoming with their medical records.

Sources say Dr. Arnold Klein and Dr. Conrad Murray have not turned over the medical records the L.A. County Coroner's office has requested. We're told both doctors have turned over some records, but the coroner's office has not gotten the complete file from either doctor.

And there's this ... We've learned a driver for Michael Jackson told coroner's officials shortly after Jackson's death that the singer was going to Dr. Klein's office multiple times a week in the months preceding his death and sometimes would spend 3 to 4 hours inside.

The driver told coroner's officials Jackson appeared disoriented when he left Klein's office. This is consistent with what a bodyguard told Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies in 2004 ... when Jackson left the offices of Klein and other doctors.
