I would willingly believe any story that is actually backed up with some evidence. I know it's old fashioned of me, but I'm funny like that.

Strange how not a single one of Prince's band members or girlfriends have ever said anything about him taking drugs, but (according to you) JB's musicians got a front row seat to him shoving coke up his nose. Yep, that's a REALLY CREDIBLE story you're telling there. thumbs up!

You are aware that Prince's former band members had to sign confidentiality agreements, right? Prince had no such agreements with James Brown's musicians.
Besides, it's not like Brown's musicians went public with what they shared with Prince. They share this story with people they know.

I could give you specific names of these musicians, but this is a public message board, and they did not only see Prince do drugs, they did it with him. I won't put them in the position to make their names public. I've probably already said more than I should have. lol

In the end, it's up to you to believe it or to not believe it. But are you honestly trying to tell me that you believe Prince never touched drugs? Also, if you have ever been around people using this particular drug, one look at the footage may not be proof alone, but certainly strongly supports the experiences of Brown's musicians.

Nigger please! Those "agreements" were all broken years ago.lol

Vanity specifically said one reason she and Prince spilt up was because she was doing drugs and he didn't approve. She had to make sure her next rock star boyfriend was a junkie so they could snort together.lol

If JB's musicians told you this shit, has it ever ocurred to you they might be..... bullshitting? lol I speak from personal experience here. Drug addict musicians are the BIGGEST BULLSHITTERS UNDER THE SUN! Anyone that's ever been around a drug addict musician will tell you that.

As for the performance, that was Prince's schtick at the time. Watch his guitar solo during "Head" on the Dirty Mind Tour. Watch the weird, almost satanic shit he's doing in some sections of the Purple Rain Tour. It's exactly the same kind of thing he's doing in that JB performance. Even in early interviews he would do this. It was an act. One black interviewer tells the story of how Prince was saying all this weird shit, dead serious, and the journalist laughed out loud so P told him to turn off the tape recorder. As soon as it was off P burst out laughing himself. Then they put the tape recorder back on and he went right back into his routine. He kept that as part of his act right up until the Parade Tour when he COMPLETELY DROPPED it. It's never been seen since.

The only difference with the JB performance was..... CONTEXT. It's fine pulling that shit when you're playing your own music to your own audience. But doing that on JB's stage with his band and his audience? It just didn't fit. At all. The pole falling at the end just put the cap on it. P just didn't really know how to adapt to that scenario. I'll give him one thing though. To pull that shit on JB's stage took some balls and P has never lacked that!

Calling me *igger doesn't exactly validate your point, or lack of. lol

Vanity specifically said one reason she and Prince spilt up was because she was doing drugs and he didn't approve. She had to make sure her next rock star boyfriend was a junkie so they could snort together.lol

I can imagine Prince saying that to her. He's a hypocrit, after all. A guy who lives by the formula "Don't do as I do, do as I say." Look, I'm not trying to suggest that Prince was a junkie. All I said is that Brown's bandmembers told me that they got high with him that day.

If JB's musicians told you this shit, has it ever ocurred to you they might be..... bullshitting? lol

No. Why. I've known a lot of those guys for years. I'm close friends with some of them, to this day. Their story always matched, and unless there was a conspiracy to create a matching story and spread it (not even in public), there is no reason to believe that they are not speaking the truth. Why would they all make up a story but never tell it in public? Makes no sense to me.

I speak from personal experience here.

You do? Do you know anyone in James Brown's band? If not, you don't speak from personal experience.

Drug addict musicians are the BIGGEST BULLSHITTERS UNDER THE SUN! Anyone that's ever been around a drug addict musician will tell you that.

Okay. Now you are breaking your own standards of truth here. Have you seen these musicians do drugs? Do you have quotes? If not, you have no proof, and you should - how did you say earlier - GTFOH. lol You asked me to deliver proof, but now you are calling people "drug addicts" without having proof yourself?

I don't doubt that Prince had a schtick. In fact, he had lots of schticks. But he still snorted coke with members of the James Brown band that night. Look, I don't know you, and from what I understand, you were not backstage that night. There is absolutely now way that you know that this didn't happen. I hope you understand that I prefer to believe those who were there that night. Okay? You may choose not to believe it. Isn't that beautiful? lol

The only difference with the JB performance was..... CONTEXT. It's fine pulling that shit when you're playing your own music to your own audience. Yeah, and you know all of that how? Because you crawled into Prince's brain that night? Gosh, I love it when people claim to know what people were thinking who they don't even know in real life. Bottom line, you weren't there that night, you have absolutely no idea what really went on. I wasn't there either, but I know people who were part of the whole thing. I'd take their word over yours any day, no offense. lol

I mean.....Prince has always been anti-drugs. But I wouldn't doubt he did SOMETHING that night. Maybe he was in awe of hanging out with JB's band, people that he looked up to, you know? Maybe he had never done coke or anything like that before and thought he would at least try it before dismissing it? Certainly, veteran musicians would be good company for doing that shit for the first time.

^^ Or PCP? lol

Maybe Prince was just lost. He was like "huh? What the fuck am I doing here?" Someone may have spiked him, lol.

Err, maybe because it would be exposed as bullshit if they went public with it? Duh!

Okay. Now you are breaking your own standards of truth here. Have you seen these musicians do drugs? Do you have quotes?

I have quotes from YOU saying they got high with him. So let me be more precise. If you're telling the truth then they are at least drug takers, if not addicts. Either way, drug taking musicians love to bullshit. Believe me, I know all about that shit.

Yeah, and you know all of that how? Because you crawled into Prince's brain that night? Gosh, I love it when people claim to know what people were thinking who they don't even know in real life. I know it because I've watched P's performances, interviews, acceptance speeches, etc. I'm not making this shit up. Go and look for yourself. Have you seen all the mad speeches he did on the PR tour? He had a schtick back then. Just look at his acceptance speeches from that time. What you see in the JB performance is the same stuff he was doing in his own show. It fit then, but it didn't fit in that environment.

Bottom line. In thirty years there has never been a single shred of evidence that P is or was a drug user. If you want to believe he is then go ahead, but some proof would be nice. The fact is you don't have any.

Okay, they collectively make up a story, but chose to not go public with this, because it would be exposed as bullshit? By who, you? lol

So, drug users love to bullshit. While people who don't do drugs don't love to bullshit. Let me ask you, how far removed from reality are you? lol

Yeah, and you know all of that how? Because you crawled into Prince's brain that night? Gosh, I love it when people claim to know what people were thinking who they don't even know in real life. So you actually believe that Prince is the person he wants you to think that he is?

Bottom line. In thirty years there has never been a single shred of evidence that P is or was a drug user. If you want to believe he is then go ahead, but some proof would be nice. The fact is you don't have any.

There are hints. Prince himself even hinted that drug use was his reason for shelving the Black Album. But I agree, there isn't solid evidence. Prince was always very careful about it. Which indicates that he was never a true addict. But do you sincerely believe that Prince has never, ever tried any drug? A creative guy like him who constantly pushed himself to the edge? Are you serious?
But anyway, no need to speculate. You were not there that night at the James Brown show. People who were there spoke about what happened, and I see no reason why they should have made it up. Their stories match. And you have the choice not to believe it. It's that easy.

Err, no. I think Prince is naturally weird but decided to run with it and make it work for him by playing it up. His performance that night is totally consistent with his whole act in those days. If I was to believe he was high that night then I'd have to believe he was high for all of those years and there is simply no evidence at all of that. Not one shred. If there was I'd certainly consider it, but until then I have to view it as idle speculation.

I am far too objective and logical to say that Prince never once experimented with drugs. Saying that would be as illogical as saying he was a user. Neither claim can be backed up. But there is no evidence he was on drugs that night or was ever a user.

I really recommend you guys check out the acceptance speeches P was giving around that time. They were just as weird as his JB performance. Like I said, it was his schtick at the time. If you think he was high that night then you'd have to say he was high at the BPI awards and the American Music Awards coz he was acting weird as fuck on those nights as well.

Mong

God, the sanctimonious Prince fans are one almighty pain in the arse. I have heard enough things from people who have been within Prince's circle over the years to know that the man has done his fair share of drugs. I've spoken to these people individually. Using drugs and liking a drink doesn't make you a bad person. In fact, I'd find it hard to trust anyone who doesn't like a drink. It's good to get fucked up once in a while.
