I also have his first album on CD, some korean import. The first CD is excellent, the second and third album's are quite funky too. You can listen to them here: http://bentleyfunk2.blogs...-1986.html http://bentleyfunk2.blogs...-1985.html Check out "Carme", and "Baby On The Corner", and many others. I'm surprised the second and third albums didn't do too well, as they are quite brilliantly produced, plenty of synths and catchy hooks. Yeah, Rockwell seemed to have the same "paranoia" type topics in his songs like MJ did. I wonder what he looks like now, I haven't seen a single picture of him apart from those 80s ones. Somebody must surely know what he's up to and what he is doing these days. Jermaine Jackson was married to his sister, so i'm sure there must be some pics around. [Edited 7/8/09 5:02am] I have Rockwell's third album and I found it to be very derivative of Prince's sound from a few years earlier. (He even references "Sugar Walls" in the first song.) A few songs are okay if I want to hear some watered-down Minneapolis funk, but overall I didn't like it. Now that you mention it I remember that . With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

He used a lot of synths in all 3 LP's. "baby on the corner" is a classic, I like that track! But yeah, Rockwell was one paranoid nutter!

I saw him perform "Carmé" and "Genie Of Love" on American Bandstand at the time and that's why I bought it, but my tastes have changed since I was 17 because I thought it wasn't all that when I last played the record a few years ago.

you would think by being Barry Gordy's son you would hear about him a little more especially for a guy who had such a big hit hell there hasn't even been a new picture of him since like 1987 Why don't we hear about Hazel? She's Berry's daughter and Jermaine's ex-wife. Why don't we hear about Berry's ex-wife? Point being, just cuz he's Gordy's son doesn't dictate he gets spotlight or attention all the time. He had A hit. It ended there. He never really went beyond that one song. He tried, but it never really happened. But where is he? Sweeping his daddy's garage, probably.

I like the slick,New Wave pop sound of this song. It's fun and very catchy! This was going to be on the "Last Dragon" soundtrack, but it was too cheesy! His voice isn't terrible. In fact, he is much better singing than doing that talking British BS.

I like "Obscene Phone Caller",even though Rockwell never really sings on it (lol).Just like "Somebody's Watching Me",he talks his way through it and has someone else sing the chorus.

The last I heard about Rockwell he was working in the manufacturing industry. I think some of you forget that the Gordy family is flithy rich. I doubt has any worries.

The O2 have filled one of MJs dates with Rockwell! It made me wonder if he'd done any other songs besides Somebody's Watching Me... thanks to this thread I've found out he has, but still not enough to fill the O2!
It turns out Rockwell is a "charity" gig with a number of bands doing 2 songs each or some such... We ain't from Hollywood, so you know it's all good

Yup, I am a Rockwell fan too. Love the "Sopmebodys Watching me" and "OBscene phone caller". I got both of them on 45 and 12" Single. I also have the LP on vinyl and korean import CD. Never heard anything else besides the SWM album. I am an 80s Music Junkie !
