lenny kravitz live in manchester

went to see lenny last night in manchester and had a ball!!
the best gig since the prince at o2 and, in a sweaty 2000 stand up hall, it was just fantastic and made me feel years younger. there will be a few aching 30/40 year old's today.

but for me the best bit was his drummer.....who is this Texan Anelka look-a-like?
if anybody knows please e mail so I can look him up on my space dancing jig

Saw Lenny several months ago and I loved his live show. Great band and amazing song choices. Lenny and the band gave it their everything. They rocked and funked the place for 2 1/2 hours. I was very impressed and had a amazing time.

Thanks for the little review. I am off to become one of the aching 30-40 year olds tonight in Southampton wink

Can't wait to see him, been listening to Let Love Rule and Mama Said all week, don;t know the new Love Revolution album that well so hoping he concentrates a fair bit on his back catalogue. cool

Did they have the 20th Anniversary Let Love Rule CD for sale at the gig, if so I don't suppose you noticed the price?
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

hits come later on in the show... but it's all good familiar stuff. we got a verse or two of "billy jean" in the middle of which the crowd lapped up. plays let love rule/american woman etc and live I don't see how you can get tired of them. his band are (to me) really on the ball and he let's them all show off...every song is heavily embellished with solo's to good effect
enjoy your night!!

My advice is stay til the very end. it was 11:20pm when me and the missus left (after the first encore of Let Love Rule) but I think he started up again with Are You Gonna Go My Way as we left. I was a little disappointed but we were absoultely knackered and it was hella-hot last night.

He was a bit late starting (9:20pm) but obviously went on til at least 11:30pm.

from memory (I am usesless at remembering even last night!) he opened with Freedom Train, set included Believe, Always On The Run, It Ain't Over Til It's Over, American Woman, Fly Away, Let Love Rule. A few from the Love Revolution album which I don't know that well. There were some others 9something sounded like a Stones cover but I'm not 100% sure). Craig Ross (lead guitar) was amazing as usual, the rest of the band Horn section and especially sax were very good too. cool

It was a fantastic night, I nearly didn't make it because I felt so ill, but so worth the pain.

He came on around 9 and did 2hrs 20 minutes. I didn't see the post about making sure you stay til the end. Loads of people left after the first encore but not me, it was obvious there was going to be more when the house lights stayed down and the techies were adjusting the microphones. We all surged forwarded and he rocked Brixton with Fly Away, the whole (now smaller) crowd was jumping and the fireworks were great.

It was the best concert I have been to in a long time and I can't wait to see him again. I certainly won't be leaving it 17 years or so again.

My favourite part of the concert was when they performed "Dancin till Dawn". Awesome extended version and very funky too.

thanks for the name of the drummer... have now seen plenty of his work from you tube and he is simply fabulous, an entertainer in his own right. it's no wonder Lenny is on fire with that kind of back up/craig ross too.
