I did not say or imply that MJ made bad choices about backing singers.

I also don't think it is appropriate to comment on how abundant ordinary church voices are either. It is quite irrelevant to this discussion especially at this moment in time.
[Edited 7/8/09 2:59am]

You said the guy made OTT facial expressions back in the day too, which saved me the effort of making the point myself.

I made the point about his voice being nothing special because you said "the man can sing", but I always felt Mike could've done better with regards his backing singers.

And I would rather not have to speak in this thread, but every other thread about MJ is getting locked, so where else is there for the non-fanatics to go? Is everyone who doesn't buy into this hysteria banned from speaking? 'Cos that's what it feels like. I'd start a thread of my own, but it would just get locked, so what's the point?

What a beautiful memorial service.

What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful human being.

God Bless his family, and children.

So true...I've heard some really bad comments but they are from people who are racist media types and have had issue with MJ for years because he changed his image and allowed both black and white to come together.

Why media people have a problem with MJ being a black man is crazy, he's the biggest star in the world because of his music but yet they seem so hung up this, I just don't get it.

Prince Michael II or Blanket as we know him is 100% MJ's son.
Fuck anyone who doesn't agree!

Just look at the pics.
I hope this puts to rest about whether he was the biological father or not.
Pictures like these don't lie.
I hope his kids can get on with their lives without being harrased.

I'm gobsmacked at how little Blanket looks like an exact copy of MJ, since we had hardly seen any pics of him close up.

Agreed ... the only truth in the post by Rebelution is highlighted in bold above

quote: I have NEVER been a fan of mj

Let me add to that Rebelution, you have never been a member of the human race, you have never travel around the world and seen what MJ has seen, you have never seen past black and white....

THE ENQUIRER FIRST REPORTED JACKO HAD SIX MONTHS TO LIVE IN OUR JAN 12, 2009 ISSUE

The ENQUIRER reported months ago that worried pals feared Michael Jackson would die in the next six months!

FROM JANUARY 12, 2009: Michael Jackson is dying - and has only six months to live, pals fear.

Sadly, the desperately ill star is bedridden much of the time, and his electrifying stage performances are a thing of the past, reveal sources.

Incredible reports surfaced in late December that Jackson is battling a rare, deadly genetic disorder and requires a lung transplant. Although the singer denied the reports, The ENQUIRER was told by sources that his health is deteriorating rapidly because of a crippling addiction to painkillers and alcohol.

A source close to the star divulged: "It's tragic. His condition is just so far gone, I'd be surprised if he lasts six months.

"Painkillers and booze have caught up with him. The only way he was able to cope with the stress of sex scandals and his roller-coaster life was to mask the pain with substance abuse.

"But the end result is an addiction that will kill him."

King Bizarro's dependency on drugs "dates back to when his hair was burned making a Pepsi commercial," said the close source. Twenty-five years later, "the drugs simply have ravaged him."

Michael's in "really, really bad shape," claims the family friend. "He's been sick for six to eight months and he just keeps getting worse.

"His muscles and lungs are deteriorating, and he's bedridden much of the time. He can walk, but not for very long.

"On good days, Michael is able to take his kids to a bookstore. But he's never out for more than an hour. He has very little strength...It's ultimately in God's hands."

But a spokesman for Jackson vehemently denies the star is ill, saying: "Mr. Jackson is in fine health" and is in negotiations for a concert tour and TV projects.

"Michael's fighting for his life," the close source concluded. "And it doesn't look good."

Did Enquirer Predict
Jackson's Death?

Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - Is it a coincidence or was the National Enquirer onto something when it reported in January that Michael Jackson had six months to live?

That story, dated January 12th, said Michael was bedridden most of the time and was battling a rare and deadly genetic disorder.

Went to see Madonna at Manchester last night and as well as the previously performed brief tribute with the dancer dressed as MJ doing the moonwalk, there were a number of other MJ references.

She prefaced 'You Must Love Me' by saying something along the lines of 'As many of you know today is Michael Jackson's funeral, he will be missed by people all over the world, his music will never dies. What is shows is that you shouldn't wait for something to be gone to appreciate it. We should all appreciate what we have and those close to us. That's all I have to say'.

She said before 'Ray Of Light' - 'This is for Michael'.

Madonna and her dancers ended the show each wearing a white, sparkling glove.

It came across to me as heartfelt and well done.

But, to me it was really beautiful. Touching. Yep, shed some tears. Stevie singing, Jermaine singing, Brooke, Paris... all touching moments. sad

And I really think everyone seriously needs to stop speculating what his kids look like, wether they are "his" etc. It is of NO importance at all.

Debbie Rowe has been totally out of the spotlight ever since she stood up for Michael Jackson at his child molestation trial in 2005 (a glossed-over part of the late star's past that was brought up by U.S. Rep. Peter King today).

How uncomfortable she is being back in it shows.

After first saying she would attend Jackson's memorial service Tuesday at the Staples Center in L.A., Rowe abruptly pulled out of the invite-only event.

Her attorney, Marta Almli, said, "The onslaught of media attention has made it clear her attendance would be a distraction at an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy. Debbie will continue to celebrate Michael's memory privately."

Part of what changed her mind? An altercation with celebrity news photographers Sunday. Emerging from a Chinese restaurant near her house, Rowe yelled at the paparazzi: "You ready to get your butt kicked? Don't f*%king touch me."

GETTING INTO A ROWE: Debbie is far from pleased.

Debbie Rowe is the mother (supposedly) of his two eldest children, Prince, 12, and Paris, 11. The mother of Jackson's third child, Prince II (Blanket), 7, is unknown.

Last week, Rowe said she wants custody of the kids, though her attorney the said later that she "has not reached a final decision concerning custody proceedings."

Amid reports that she is not a biological parent of the children - nor is Jackson - Rowe told NBC that she is willing to submit to DNA testing to prove maternity.

A guardianship hearing has been postponed until July 13 at the request of attorneys for Rowe and Katherine Jackson, who remains their temporary guardian.
A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

yes, i dont want to focus on this either. but, it does suggest two causes which are quite separate. it there was a genetic cause that would be easily identifiable by genetic analysis. if it was substance misuse, that would be in the tox reports in a few weeks.

if they both contributed, they would also each be identifiable in those ways.

RIP MJ

and the sick part of it now is that CNN- which we have turned to for some truth- is reporting from their "sources" tabloid garbage about the state of his body- less than 12 hours after his funeral they are sensationalizing and speculating on the tragedy of the emergency medical attention he reicieved before and after the 911 call. They have a "source" reporting on what the corpse looked like- how it had no color or hair and how it was emaciated and that their were track marks on his arms- maybe fresh from medical attention or not.....

More than 6 million viewers watched the Michael Jackson memorial across several channels on British television last night, 7 July.

Both BBC2 and Channel Five cleared their early evening schedules for live coverage of the Los Angeles service, which overran by almost 90 minutes, while Sky Arts, Sky News and the BBC News channel also covered the event.

BBC2 did best, with an average of 4 million viewers and a 19% share between 6pm and 8.45pm, peaking at 5.2 million for the final 15 minutes, according to unofficial overnight figures.

BBC2's Jackson funeral coverage was the most watched programme on any channel between 8pm and 8.45pm.

It looks far more like MJ's image of himself that he worked on surgically for three decades, than the image of MJ as god made him (which admittedly is unknown after his teenage years).

If we take a passing resemblance as being more than a co-incidence, then you could argue this supports the premise even more that MJ cherry-picked the parentage (both father and mother perhaps) of his offspring to fit a certain image he had of himself and his offspring.

I have not posted posted on MJ for a couple of days because the hoopla had gotten to me but yesterday was a tribute worthy for the man.

I have not cryed since my grandmother passed and yesterday tears were flowing from my eyes in an uncontrollable manner. Micheal Jackson and the Jackson family was the Black American dream. If you are Black and between the ages of 50 and 35 we grew up wanting to be like them. They were hip and trendy, good looking and popular. They had a cartoon and a TV show back when there were few Blacks on TV. Many of you know MJ from Thriller but I remember dancing with my slew of cousins to MJ one summer night back in 1979 to Off The Wall. On Saturday July the Fourth many of the same cousins returned to my grandmothers home for a family reunion and opened up the dusty old record player and played Off The Wall for the first time in many years. Our children danced with us and we had a real good time. That's what MJ did for us. He brought people together.

Yesterday I saw the Jackson family for the first time in many years as real people. For good or bad the media and ourselves viewed them as a Fantasy Island episode full of drama and mystery. Hearing Stevie Wonder say what he sayed and looking at Magic Johnson speak brought it home. Seeing the still beautiful Brooke Shields crying at the loss of her friend and Usher damn. This was MJ dead in a casket. He doesn't have to worry about getting up on a stage hurting from years of dancing and painkillers and people chasing him in malls. It's over baby. Rest in ultimate peace! We don't get out of this thing alive people.
Mike just left the way he did. We all have to follow that trail one day.

Yesterday my wife came home and her sister came over and watched the TiVo of the service and the tears started again. I woke up this morning having to deal with my own life's problems. The sun is shining. I am still here. I know that God still exists and his will will be done.

Regardless to what comes out about MJ's drug use/cause of death. He deserved to be treated like a human being. God bless him and his family.

Noted publication Ebony magazine will release a special edition issue celebrating the life of Michael Jackson July 13.

The issue, at 100 pages, will feature never before seen photos, celebrity tributes and 5,000 words from the late King of Pop himself.

"Michael was a genius. Michael was a researcher. He'd study, study, study. He was one of the greatest listeners I know," said Berry Gordy, in one of the many celebrity tributes.

According to EBONY, Quincy Jones, Ne-Yo, Jesse Jackson, Suzanne de Passe, and Smokey Robinson are among those who have contributed to the issue.

EBONY reportedly dug deep into its archives to bring forth never seen before photos from the very start of Jackson's career and long standing relationship with Johnson Publishing (Ebony/Jet).

The issue, titled 'Michael: In His Own Words,' arrives on news stands July 13.
