It's kind of disgusting how the Jackson family exploited that girl. Why in the world should she have to grieve in public like that? To me, that just lends credence to the fact that the children would be in far better hands if they were outside of that whack job attention whore family. how the hell did they exploit her? Obviously you didn't see the memorial service, you saw something else that ONLY YOU WANTED TO SEE. His daughter HAD EVERY RIGHT TO SPEAK TO THE WORLD ABOUT HER DAD, that's not exploitation, that's showing gratitude and having the courage to say what she feels to the world on this difficult day. Maybe you just need to sit yo ass down somewhere and chill the fuck out. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That's why I thought it was weird that she was explaining it to viewers as an African American tradition? I thought it was a common custom among all kinds of people. My Irish Catholic friends sure do it and I'm sure Italian folks do it w/ tons of great food. Maybe it was the word "repast" she didn't know. [Edited 7/7/09 18:45pm]

I thought so...you just call it something else perhaps. I saw Papa Joe several times...maybe somebody finally got him to tone it down a bit. The Jacksons ain't perfect (who's family is?) but they are clearly more involved w/ these kids' lives then the most of the media folks thought or wanted to believe. It's obvious that the kids know and love their father's family dearly. They know their grandparents, aunts, and uncles....let's not even mention that whole mess of cousins they have! I've seen folks like Mark Gergagos, The Mez, and people who've observed the family being asked about the Js and the kids and they've all said the family is quite close to them. It's obvious that's true and it may bug some people.
Why begrudge these kids who have no mother a warm, if imperfect, embrace from their father's family? I don't get it.

It was a Iconic moment just like JFK jr saluting his father I totally agree, like a few folks have said previously Paris reminded us all that MJ was a fellow human being and a loving father who will be greatly missed by his kids. Paris single handedly, in a few short words, has quite possibly salvaged the reputation of her father better than any professional PR company ever could. It's such a shame that only upon his death do we see what a warm and loving father he must have been. Paris has paid her daddy a great tribute, he would be proud.

she had no choice that was painfully obvious to me and did nothing to repair the story of the MJ human tradgedy

Let me guess, they stage managed her into it? If they were going to force these kids, why not Prince (MJ's son, not the singer to be completely clear) too? [Edited 7/7/09 19:06pm]

[Edited 7/7/09 15:35pm] I really hope they make this available for fans that weren't able to be one of the lucky ones to attend. I could only imagine how much someone could make on eBay for it if it's only limited to the memorial service. Heck, let the proceeds go to charity or something... • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Paris loves her daddy. And when you lose your parent, you want the whole world to know what a great person your parent was. And she made her father very proud today when she spoke of him and shared her feelings of love.
There was no exploitation. It's crazy to even go there.

It was a sad, beautiful memorial.
It's amazing.. the impact this man had as an artist and humanitarian. Stevie really got to me -- especially when he started singing "They Won't Go When I Go". R.I.P. M.J.J.

Is anyone else shocked Justin Timberlake was not there? He has repeatedly called MJ his idol over the years and yet, he has strangely been a non presence throughout this. It could also be because there is still bad blood between him and Janet I'm not shocked in the least. After the way he publicly threw Janet under the bus and the repercussions she suffered, the most dignified thing he can do is be a silent, non-presence. I doubt this family would have been chomping at the bit to have him anywhere near them during their time of grief
