Michael Jackson will be buried without his brain today after doctors retained it following an autopsy to help determine the cause of death. The King of Pop will be saluted in grand fashion at the Staples Centre memorial ceremony, and reportedly laid to rest at Los Angeles's Forest Lawn cemetery. However, the LA coroner's office has still not completed its tests on Jackson's brain, and the singer's family have been advised that unless they wish to wait, he must be buried without it. Jackson died from an apparent cardiac arrest on 25 June. Though his body was released the next day to relatives, his brain was not. The pop star's inert brain must "harden" for at least two weeks before doctors can conduct their neuropathology tests. Doctors will examine Jackson's brain to help determine the cause of death, suspected of being linked to painkillers. Such examinations can also reveal unknown diseases, evidence of alcohol abuse or whether Jackson has suffered overdoses in the past. Removing the brain is the "only way to carry out the tests" according to a source for the Mirror. "The tissue has to be examined. I can't tell you how long that is going to take." Jackson's funeral will begin with a closed-casket family service, followed by a Staples Centre memorial for more than 11,000 fans I don't believe this. It's too absurd. TMZ would have jumped on a story like this if it could be backed up. also, couldn't the family oppose this? i'm not in the know of any of the legal issues but if a regular autopsy was done wouldn't that be enough? would anyone really want to know about past addictions or overdoses, except tabloids? the man died and that's bad enough but except for his family, who could have anything to do with it? police have ruled out foul play already. so why would anyone put a family through added stress and trauma of making them burry their loved one as they kept one of their organs? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

can I just throw in that I'm very very glad they kept the entire memorial service rather down to earth, maybe even 'sombre'. the reporting the last couple of days had me fearing a circus.

I suppose it's easy for some to forgive a person's sins once he or she passes on. I'm not one of those people. the man allowed webster, macauley culkin, and a host of other young boys in his bed. Is there nothing wrong with that?? as a father of three boys under 12, i say there is, and i wonder who among you wouldn't be "drudging up b.s. that people like Nancy Grace report on" to keep your children safe. If my beliefs mean I'm bound for Hell, then so be it. You can't look at one side of mj and not the other. Yes, even I have to pay heed to that concept. I have NEVER been a fan of mj, but today, i've had to tip my cap towards the sky. If i'm banned because of my beliefs, so be it, but thee who banish me should be willing to look at mj's mirror and see ALL the flaws as well as the talent. Nancy Grace is a miserable, evil beeyotch and it is no wonder what happened in her life happened to her...she calls it on herself. I have no sorrow for her, but you go ahead and keep hating on MJ in his death as that will never hurt his legacy, and as you mention your children in your post, remember that MJ has nothing to do with them. The man is dead, is that not enough for you? [Edited 7/7/09 15:16pm]

Don't 4get Gloria Alred. They will try to bring down MJ in any form. Exaclty, just like his brother Marlon said "Maybe now they will leave him alone", but those 2 miserable beeyotches will do everything they can to destroy his legacy, but they will never win. MJ is in a place they will never be able to touch him. I have to say that Al Sharpton was on point, and I loved it when Paris stood up and applauded him. [Edited 7/7/09 15:31pm]

who was it cuz I heard it was her for the longest. Diana Ross. But I think Katherine Jackson and Joseph Jackson discovered them. Gladys was the one who told Berry they should be at Motown, she was rebuffed. Bobby Taylor pushed it up even further sending them up to Detroit and after auditioning for Suzanne de Passe, I think she was the one who recorded the audition tape and sent it to Berry, who was finally convinced to put the group on the label. Plus Suzanne was doing behind-the-scenes work. Gladys had a hand in helping them get in the door but let's not jump the gun here.

[Edited 7/7/09 15:16pm] Just ignore these people. I have ignored all the haters and naysayers for the most part. They are pathetic and dead inside. The way I look at it is that it doesn't matter if you like MJ or not, but at least have some decency to stay away from this thread if you are not interested or are only going to make nasty comments. I mean there are a few people I don't like (i.e. R. Kelly) but if they passed away, you would never find me making nasty comments or harassing their fans. YOU GUYS ARE NOT WANTED HERE! GO AWAY. Keep your disgusting, hateful comments to yourself or talk about it in another thread. This is not the time or place for it. Take that mess somewhere else. One thing i'm glad about is that these comments can no longer hurt Michael. These idiots keep on and on with their vile, disgusting comments but guess what? Michael aint here anymore so he can't be hurt by it. The only people upset about it are his family, friends and fans, but you cannot hurt him anymore so it's pointless. It's very sad to be this consumed with hate. I don't have that much hate for anyone period. You really have to wonder what some of these miserable people are like in real life. Hopefully not as bad as they seem on here. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always
