Ursha earned many respect points back today with me. nod

He really did with me too nod. In comparison to many of his peers who performed on that horrendous BET tribute, his performance was subtle, polished, restrained, and respectful.

With all the young kids out there who cite MJ as an inspiration and borrow so much from him, in retrospect I now see why when asked who was his favorite of the young crop of singer/dancers Mike always said Usher's name first and with the most emphasis. He did very well today. rose

The family stayed far away from playing "Thriller" at the memorial, I think if they played it, they would have cleared that place in a minute.

It was cute how the family was telling Paris to speak up. I thought I heard Marlon say that Janet had something to say, this was before Paris spoke. Lord have mercy, I can't believe he's gone. bawl

I don't know if this was meant to be funny or not but just imagining that gold casket opening while Thriller was playing gave me a laugh.

Apart from Ne-Yo and New Edition, the rest of the BET show can be erased from the BET video files history, YouTube should take down all clips as well or just burn the lot....

MJ takes on Sony in 2002

Damn this is the strongest Video i've ever seen - damn he speaks his mind!

Mike had alot of people looking to get him ....it looks like in the end they did!

The big corporates always win .... Prince has paid the price to be the boss, hence no airplay or tv for his CD ..

No more SHOW just BUSINESS... sad

uh, prince already all this stuff years prior.....it's not hard to talk about what's already been done by others.

I know this is not the right thread, but I thought the O'Jays tribute was excellent. They are so important to the legacy of r&b music.

from the ybf

YBF photographer/correspondent Wil Shelton was inside the Staples Center for the Michael Jackson memorial. And here’s a recap of audience’s reactions and people in attendance that we couldn’t see on tv:

While Jennifer Hudson sang “Will You Be There”, several people in the audience audibly and visibly broke down and were virtually inconsolable.
Celebrities seen inside the Staples Center but not shown on tv: John Singleton, Jesse Jackson, LisaRaye, Lil Kim, Dionne Warwick, and Cicely Tyson.
From inside the Staples Center, you could really feel the deep and profound loss in the atmosphere.
The 20,000 audience members hung on to every word of Al Sharpton’s moving speech. Went to church on everybody in that piece…
The Jackson family was incredibly moved at Usher’s rendition of “Gone Too Soon”
Memorable quotes from the memorial:
“He is not just the King of Pop, he’s the biggest entertainer that ever lived.”-Berry Gordy

“Michael was a genius with unchallenged ability.”-Brooke Shields

“This is a moment I wished I didn’t live to see come.”-Stevie Wonder

“Maybe now, they’ll leave you alone Michael.”-Marlon Jackson

“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine.”-A sobbing Paris Katherine Jackson
