Tree - by Stevie Wonder

I am listening to Stevies 'Secret Life of Plants' this evening for the first time and I cried my eyes out to tree. I found this song to be so very moving. Has this affected anyone else like this, or am I a soppy ol' cow??!!!

Well, it never affected me like that. I don't think you're old, and I'd never call you a cow. But everyone's entitled to a bit of soppiness.

(Given that its a tree, I'm surprised you didn't come over all sappy.)

Anyway, Therapy, I decided to put it in my Walkman and fall asleep to it last night. listened to 'Kesse - whatever it is' and 'A Star's a Seed' first, then 'Tree' and the 'Finale'.

To be honest, I think the musical inventiveness for those last two tracks is tremendous - drawing all the melodies and themes together, but I wish he had decided to do it with many more instruments than mostly keyboards. Given that it was a film score, and that he was covering organic matter, it seems a little daft that we hear mostly synthetic instruments. However, I fear it would have sounded as if Stevie was trying to do cheesy pop classical if we had heard the Los Angeles Philharmonic playing it, so I've always had very mixed feelings about the way these sound.

(I think I fell asleep before I started getting sentimental over it).
