Tori Amos :: Give for a while there i thought i would not be able to relate to her new music anymore and then completely out of nowhere this track hit me over the head. hard. like one of the commenters on youtube said: it reminds me a bit of a portishead track. but still completely tori amos. once it's over i wish it would go on for another 4 minutes still not sure about her new album though (you know i hate to bitch). it seems like there's a very good and strong 9 track album in there. she's gone a bit like prince, just release enormous amounts of stuff and there's still that classic album in there but it's accompanied by lots of stuff that kind of muddles the whole experience. but still, just as with prince i say, the more material the better. that's what playlists on itunes are for, lol. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

As soon as the music started, I was thinking "this sounds like Portishead!" ...which is DEFINITELY NOT a bad thing I love this song! Which of her albums is this on? I've not heard it before, so it's not on the albums of hers that I've already bought If you will, so will I

I could do without 500 miles. Otherwise, perfect 69 minutes or so. An honest man knows that he can not consume more than he can produce.

It's kinda the perfect pop song of the album a la "Secret Spell", don'tcha think? It's a little straight forward to fit in well with the rest of the material, but I don't mind it though.

Love that shit! An honest man knows that he can not consume more than he can produce.

Yeah, there's a show-tunesy/standards kinda quality to some of the songs and vocals on this album, kinda like her Mona Lisa Smile contributions, and I think it really works for the overall feel. Those 2 songs are twins in that regard. With all the upstart Tori threads on here in the past couple months, I really want to finally do a track-by-track review and dig deep.

So I know tickets for a lot of her shows went on sale this week.
Who all is going? We've got quite the org crew comin' out for the Detroit show!

It's not bad. Great soundscapes in that one, but it doesn't come to mind when I think of my favorites from the new album:
Not Dying Today Police Me 500 Miles Fast Horse

the new album continues to be my favorite of 2009 thus far. It's really stellar, much better than the last 2, IMHO (both of which i liked as well.) * * *
