Madonna plans Jackson tribute at London show
Madonna will perform a special tribute to Michael Jackson during her London show on Saturday, at the venue where he was due to stage his farewell shows, she said in a newspaper interview.
Madonna - known as the Queen of Pop, while Jackson was the King of Pop - told the Sun newspaper she was 'terribly sad' about Jackson's death and revealed she 'used to love picking his brains about musical stuff'.
She is playing London's O2 Arena Saturday and will feature extracts from Jackson's songs 'Billie Jean' and 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' plus pictures of the star, who died last week, the paper said.
Madonna and her dancers will also wear single white gloves - one of Jackson's most famous wardrobe accessories - during a finale of her hit 'Give It 2 Me'.
Jackson had been due to play some 50 sellout shows entitled 'This Is It' at the O2 venue starting this month.
'I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson's death,' Madonna said in the interview. 'I don't know what artist wasn't inspired by him.'
'To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in awe of him. To work with him and become friends and hang out with him was exciting for me.'
'I used to love picking his brains about musical stuff.'
Madonna said that before Jackson died, she had offered to do a duet with him at the O2 shows. 'I don't know what we could have done together, I could have carried his bags for him maybe,' she said.

This is a response to the negative media coverage that Mr. Joseph Jackson, father of the late Michael Joseph Jackson has been receiving recently.

To quote the late Michael Joseph Jackson in his autobiographical book "Moonwalker": "Before you judge someone, walk two full moons with them." Mr. Joseph Jackson, known to us privately as "Joe," has always been the man of steel, the go-to person during times of crisis. He deals with situations from a point of equanimity. Continuously compartmentalizing his inner emotions has become an everyday activity.

When his dear mother and father passed away, he never shed a tear. "I internalize my emotions, but they eat up on the inside over the years." This has made him very effective during times of crisis. Each time he would rise to the occasion and function at the highest levels.

When Michael Jackson collapsed at 11:30 [a.m. PT June 25], the security guard's first instinct was to call Joe in Las Vegas to find out what to do. Joe screamed into the phone, "Get yourself together and call 911, now now now !!!" That was him in action, no emotion.

In 2003, as an arrest warrant was issued for Michael, we were all curled up behind the gates of the CMX Entertainment complex in Las Vegas with no idea what to do. When Joe walked in, you would see Michael's eyes light up. He was running the show with Michael listening to every word Joe was directing. I recall the family friend, actor/comedian Eddie Griffin, saying, "You could tell, it was Papa Joe in charge! He made Michael feel so secure. He dumped the weight off his shoulders on his father Joe. As he knew that Joe was ready for war." Michael repeatedly asked Joe, "What do I do?" There was no one more capable to handle the crisis than Joe. He is like a professional billiard player; thinking two or three steps ahead.

During the trial, with everyone focused on the court proceedings, Joe went from door to door in Santa Barbara, knocking on strangers' doors introducing himself, meeting as many locals as he could. He struggled to get the community on his son's side. He had dinner with people in the community, brought signed Jackson memorabilia as gifts, and did his best to get to know them on a personal basis. He knew too well that legal court proceedings are not decided only in the court room but also in the court of public opinion. Now most PR firms would be thinking of a national or international campaign. But for this trial, the public opinion that mattered most was a very small community in Santa Barbara.

Many people questioned why Joe needed a lawyer during his son's trial. Even his family questioned his judgment and [they] were upset. It was only later that some realized the wisdom behind his actions. Not only Michael's lawyers but the whole prosecution side were under a gag order not to talk at all. Joe's lawyer was attending everything and maximizing the media outlet for Michael's interests. Joe was always willing to go to war to protect Michael and his family.

The media are disturbed that Joe once again has brought Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton into the Jackson family. To refresh the memory of the media, during the trial they were also around. Joe called it his "Plan B." Not only do they provide spiritual support and confidence but they were and are his political weight. Few remember the verbal attacks on Tom Sneddon by Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton, the large community rallies they organized, or the racist stuff they dug up on Sneddon. Jesse Jackson sits on the board of Yucalpa ( A $12 billion private equity firm of Ron Burkle). He also sits on the board of Sony /ATV catalog representing Michael's interests.

Keeping his emotions inside has taken its toll on Joe. The last few years have seen him visit the hospital frequently. He began to distance himself slowly from his son's problems. He knows he is up in age. "At 80, I can only do so much".

The day Michael died, for the first time in years, he said nothing, became sad, then angry, then began leading once again. His finest hour.

The media commented negatively to the trucks going to Michael's L.A. home. Joe's reply, "If the media will pick up the $100,000-per-month rent, due next month, I will very gladly leave the stuff there." That is Joe dealing with reality.

Before getting to Don Lemon of CNN on the BET red carpet he had done several interviews and was simply looking forward to watching the show. To avoid speaking, he made sure to have along with him Michael Jackson's lawyer Londel McMillan, his longtime publicist Angel Howanksy and his longtime friend Marshall from the musical group "The Charlights." As the CNN reporter kept bringing up questions on Michael and the family, you could see Joe became uncomfortable. He began giving one-word answers, then struggled to change the subject and brought up his publicist to read a statement. As that did not work, he finally tried to push the spotlight on his friend Marshall with the record label story.

As usual the press turned it around to claim he is all business. He might be old, but if ever in a crisis there is no one better than Mr. Joseph Jackson on your side. The man of steel may never show his emotions on the outside, but neither did Napoleon during the moment of truth.

What about Joe being left out of Michael Jackson's will! Why leave a will to an 80-year-old father who will leave it further to the grand kids and you end up paying twice the inheritance tax! Michael knew Joe was a risk taker. Joe would bet the farm. He has lost millions of dollars in the past on bad investments but it is the same risk-taking of going for the jugglers that got the Jacksons where they are. Back in Gary, Ind., after discovering his kids' talents, he quit his job at the steel mill, spent his whole life savings on the best musical instruments he could buy. His wife was very upset, but he told her, "Don't worry, we are going to make it". With no other source of income, other than a few club performances, he knew he had to succeed. Many forget that Gary, Ind. is one of the poorest cities in the whole country. To raise nine black kids out of poverty to superstardom with class is worthy of respect. It was a trade with the odds against him, but it was a trade of a lifetime.

Kubler-Ross analyzed the five stages of dealing with death: denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. When asked yesterday if he wanted to go and see his son's body, he replied, "NO!!!!, I will not be able to sleep and the emotions will catch up on me. No, no, no no, no!! And he hung up the phone."

Wise men think twice and then say nothing. Those who know do not talk and those who have no idea run to the media to gain fame. When I called up to tell him about all the negative stuff in the press about the record label, he gave me a his most unique line of old, "At least they have not forgotten about us ..." and in his sadness, he laughed.
"We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Funny, I know white people who look black and black people who look white. None of them even mixed raced. Genetics is a funny thing. All I know is that Prince and Blanket have Michael Jackson's eyes, and if the 2 boys aren't related, it's just a massive coincidence that they looked identical as toddlers.

Aussie Guitarist Devastated over Jackson's Death.

The young Australian guitarist handpicked by Michael Jackson to play a key role in his London concerts has revealed her joy at working with the "King of Pop" and the devastation of his death.

Watch live streaming of Michael Jackson’s funeral on Yahoo!7 this Wednesday

Known simply as Orianthi, the 24-year-old blonde Adelaide beauty appears prominently in recently released rehearsal video footage of Jackson preparing for the 50 London concerts.

The footage was shot in Los Angeles two days before Jackson died.

In one piece Orianthi is aggressively playing the guitar to a rock version of Jackson's hit, They Don't Care About Us, and Jackson slides up close to her.

"Really surreal," Orianthi, speaking on CNN, said of her brief experience working with Jackson.

"I'm a big fan. Just a huge fan.

"When I got the email to come and audition for him I was just blown away.

"I didn't think it was real."

On June 25 Jackson, 50, stopped breathing in his $US100,000 a month rented Los Angeles mansion and could not be revived.

Autopsy results are pending.

"It was amazing, then devastating," Orianthi said.

Orianthi first picked up an acoustic guitar aged six, moved to electric at 11, at 15 played her first support act for a Steve Vai concert and when she was 18 jammed with guitar legend Carlos Santana on stage at a concert in Adelaide.

She is now based in Los Angeles and has a record deal with 19 Recordings/Geffen Records.

Earlier this year Orianthi caused plenty of buzz when she performed with US country music star Carrie Underwood at the Grammy Awards ceremony.

Orianthi said Jackson was extra special.

"He had a wonderful aura about him. A beautiful spirit," she said.

"Just being in his presence. I'm so grateful that I had that time with him."

Like I said they could of had the same sperm donor. And I know perfectly well that mixed race kids can come out looking completely white as one of my best friend’s sister came out this way, but you can tell this is not the case with these kids. It’s not just because they’re white, they just don’t look like Jacksons, you can see it. They’re cute as, but they’re not Michael. People are really reaching to see it. They do look a bit like him after the surgery actually but you have to compare his childhood/teenage pictures.

JACKSON DRUG STUNNER IN 'GYNO' TRIAL

Sources said
Ratner once told people in Lauersen's office that Jackson collapsed
after a show because Ratner had given him too much of a general
anesthetic called propofol. Propofol is often used to relieve anxiety
or pain, but larger doses cause unconsciousness.

An article on THE TWINZ and their connection with Michael Jackson.

Twin dancers had special bond with Michael Jackson

http://www.nydailynews.co...KHVyZQEX&D

The only creatures who can expect to get through the police perimeter around Michael Jackson's memorial without tickets or credentials are 11 elephants.
The pachyderms are with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and they will be walked from its train around 4 a.m. in preparation for the circus opening at the Staples Center the day after the memorial.
The perimeter is intended to prevent the Jackson gathering from becoming a circus of another kind and it is likely to do just that. Some crystal ball gazers are predicting as many as 750,000 fans will turn out, but no matter how many actually do, only the 17,500 with tickets will get through.
When these arrangements were announced by the organizers yesterday, an assistant taped a piece of paper bearing the words "RANDOMLY SELECTED" to the podium as a reminder of the key element that may make this memorial come off like an actual memorial.
Because the draw will be completely random, anyone who shows up at the perimeter without a ticket will have no cause to feel wrongly excluded. The lucky ones can rightly be considered representatives of the millions who wished they could be there.
The result will be a minimum of mayhem, but a maximum of love from the fans Jackson so loved in return. He once said that he wore the single white glove "because that way I'm always on stage."
In earlier years, Jackson sometimes invited a small group of fans back to his hotel, as he did after a concert in Sydney, Australia, in 1996. The lucky ones in that instance included Maya and Nandy McClean.
For three hours, the McClean twins and a group of other young teens had more fun than they could have imagined in Jackson's suite.
"Everybody was eating ice cream, having food fights," Maya remembered. "He gave everybody jackets at the end of the night."
While in Sydney, Jackson also secretly married Debbie Rowe, who was six months pregnant with the first of their two children.
He went on to an increasingly more complicated personal existence, but what stayed with the twins were his spirit, his music and his dancing.
The twins were inspired to embark on their own show business careers, and they were in Las Vegas as backup singers for Prince in 2007 when they encountered Jackson backstage.
"We said, 'Do you remember us from Sydney?'" Maya recalled. "He said, 'You guys are so grown up now!'"
She added, "He was like your dad or something."
Six weeks ago, the twins went down to the Nokia Theater across from the Staples Center to audition for Jackson's farewell "This Is It" series of concerts. They reached the callbacks, but did not make the final cut. They did get a thrill when Nandy caught Jackson's attention.
"She blew kisses to him and he blew kisses back," Maya said.
The twins learned of Jackson's death via Twitter while they were in rehearsal for their own show, and they cried as they kept on. They will be performing in Japan on the day of the memorial but stopped by the Staples Center yesterday morning, where fans had begun to gather.
"Man in the Mirror," Maya said when asked her favorite Jackson song.
"Human Nature," Nandy said.
Even twins are liable to each have their own particular favorite, and maybe listening to one is the best way for the many millions of Jackson's fans to remember him Tuesday.
Unless you are one of the 17,500 randomly chosen ones who have a ticket to get through a perimeter established by what will likely be the biggest LAPD deployment since the 1984 Olympics.
The police plans were still being drawn yesterday. A senior commander who stepped from the meeting said Twitter and other technology has made old methods of predicting crowds obsolete. "Those rules don't apply any more," he said.
However it goes at the memorial, the elephants will be kept in an animal compound near the arena until the next day, when the real circus begins.

The only Jacksons I've ever commented on are Janet and Michael. Your question implies they are linked in my mind. They are not. I group Janet more with people like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. They are non-entities elevated way above their station by circumstances.

MJ is totally separate. Unlike them, he was THE REAL THING! One of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century. A fantastic singer, who made some great recordings. And he had the uniqueness which to me is a hallmark of all true greats (although uniqueness by itself does not make you great).

However, we all know about the other side (self hatred, child molestation, and artistic decline). The problem is he has an army of fans who see red whenever you try to point out the other side.

ok you have the right to your opinions, but you do realize that those army of fans are really hurting right now and seeing as this thread was started by a fan for other fans to share memories and things like that, dont you think its pretty insensitive of you start talking about all the negative stuff that everybody already has heard over and over for the last how many years of his life?i just think as a grown man its kinda childish for you to say things for the sole purpose of pissin people off at a time like this,mj is gone and people are gonna remember him whatever way they want, everybody i know is remembering him for what he did best.

What are you talking about? I've said very little in these threads specifically because I don't want to have arguments. Several MJ fans have written childish and angry posts about me to try and provoke me, but I haven't got into that game of tit-for-tat (check out papaisaway saying "Jackass" for an example). I've shown a lot of restraint.

Earlier in this thread we saw Quincy saying negative stuff about Mike. That's a big fucking shock right there. All I did was express my surprise. You can't expect people to not talk about something as big as that. Quincy was one of the most important figures in Michael's life.

sad It's starting to hit me again. I was doing okay for the past two days but I just heard MJ's song "Smile" and it set me off again. It really is so terrible and I am tired of people in my life telling me to get over it or saying that I didn't know MJ. What the **** do they know? Nothing. They know nothing about MJ or what he meant for some people. I am so broken up. Man, i don't think I will ever get over MJ dying. I miss him so much it's not funny. I can't believe I will never speculate about new music or see a pic of him alive. I can't believe i'm talking about him the past tense. Everyday I say to myself "Michael Jackson...Dead"? No it can't be. It's like some weird dream. No one ever excited me as much as Michael did and I will never love another artist the way I loved him all these years. Entertainment is not as exciting for me now, there's nothing much in music I look forward to now

Wow. Everything U typed, I am thinking and feeling. sad I completely understand.

Right now, my semi-excitement for non-MJ related entertainment has dropped as well. Don't know if it will return either. Prince is cool and all, and handsome, and I'll always admire him as a musician, but he really is just music and performance to me. When I see/hear Prince, I'm like: "Yay. *smiley face*" But when I see/hear Mike, I'm like: "YES! Hooray! Woo-hoo! *wide, amatory grin*" lol. The extreme excitement I've felt watching/listening to MJ, I've never felt for any other celebrity. I guess its because I actually love this man outside of music and dance, even though he's not in my family. Somehow, I could always literally feel for him as a human being from a distance. It's a phenomenon I can't really explain right now, but watch this video from 2007 and U may feel what I'm talking about (for those of U who don't already). He had such emanating modesty, kindness, and acknowledgment that's not common in men with even a fourth of his status:

I will never be the same now that he's gone.....Just like when one of my close cousins passed away two years ago. Though my memories are joyful, I'll become sad temporarily every time I hear his name.

One thing that did help me feel a little better today was watching an old film called "The Bishop's Wife" starring Cary Grant. (A modern remake of this movie is "The Preacher's Wife.") It's about a man that returns to Earth as an angel to help a family, and they can see him while he's there. A nice film to watch during this sad time.

Blanket is going to grow to look just like Michael. If he wasn't a baby, he'd be my favorite, lol. I feel really sad when I think about him though, since it looks like he's a "daddy's boy." sad While Prince and Paris are usually close to each other, Blanket was always near Michael. I can't imagine how their little minds are handling this. neutral

I hope they will continue to want to study and learn the way I'm sure Michael instructed them to. I'd hate to see them grow up without proper loving guidance that Michael was giving them, and end up like wild "celebrity children" in Hollywood. disbelief And honestly, I don't want any of them to enter the entertainment world. Especially not as children. Unless they grow to inherit their father's genius, without Michael to guide them, I feel they would get lost and blend-in like everyone else instead of standing-out like him.

Yes, he attended one of Prince's shows at the Rio. I don't remember the date.

A couple of weeks ago, someone posted a link to the Twins' blog, where they described the evening. Maybe someone can provide the link again?

I´ve always felt the same about Mike. I´ll miss him sooooo much.....
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

The only bright side I can see is that there might be tons of unreleased music and video's to come out over the next few years.

Me too. As pathetic as it sounds, I don't feel like my life will ever be as fulfilling anymore. He was like the ultimate thing that made me happy. This concert was making me the most excited I've ever been. Maybe that will change when I reach my 20's like it seemed to for most people even when he was alive. And yes it is a bit ridiculous to base a part of your happiness on an entertainer but for me entertainment is one of the best things about life. I really wonder what it is about him that makes people feel this way for him.

Dare I defend Joe Jackson? This guy is the convenient Big Bad Wolf of this story and life is just not that simple, sorry folks. The man went overboard in how he pushed and dominated his kids, I think it's fair to say, but how else would we have kid stars w/o kid star parents?! Think kids magically pop up, decide to be stars, and drive themselves to gigs? People wonder why he and Katherine have so much and say they didn't earn it, but Joe was their manager for about 20 years don't forget and before this, the family suffered and sacrificed in order for the J5 to happen. The parents, primarily Joe, invested time and money cultivating their talent and getting it seen. Besides, the kids spoil their mother, but why shouldn't they if they choose? This is all fact and w/o Joe, we'd not be having this convo at all.

Joe certainly made some mistakes in terms of business, but his successes are nothing to sneeze at. Joe managed to get his kids on the Circuit and all the way to Motown w/ hardly any outside help (managers, agents, etc)....a remarkable feat in itself. It was Joe who had the foresight to move the J5 from Motown to CBS because he knew his boys had writing and producing talent that would not get any play at Motown. The Jacksons are one of the few groups who got out of the Motown trap in time to have a career beyond Motown and their teens. What kind of solo career would MJ had if he stayed at Motown? See Jermaine. I feel sorry for Jermaine in this situation cuz he got the bum deal by sticking around w/ Motown and for being estranged from his family for 7 years, but Berry Gordy shares some blame here too.

Time has told. When their father was their manager (up to 83 or 84, from memory) the careers of all the Jackson sons thrived and even Janet's as an actress/singer. After Joe and the Victory tour, the family group pretty much ceased to exist. Was that for the good...who can say? It seems obvious to me that he was far more invested in them as people than the people they subsequently got involved w/ businesswise.

I'm ambivalent about Joe and always have been. He was/is a man of the old school who believed in the belt/switch to get his point across, but he was hardly rare in this respect. This man got his kids out of a sure fire dead end blue collar existance. Without his seeing their talent and believing in it 1st, they'd have been just another group of poor kids who could sing. This is the real deal.

Jackson Fans At Neverland Ranch: Got To Be There
06/03/09

Reporting from Los Olivos, Calif. -- Ever since Michael Jackson died, Al Williams' family had begged him to take them to Neverland Ranch. And each day, Williams, 42, a roofer from San Bernardino, said no, that there were too many people crowded outside Neverland's gates.

On Thursday night, he finally gave in.

Williams, his wife, Josie, and their two children woke up at 4 a.m. Friday and piled into their burgundy Scion for the roughly three-hour drive to Jackson's fabled Santa Barbara County hideaway.

When they arrived at the two-lane, winding Figueroa Mountain Road in the hills of Los Olivos, they passed news trucks with huge satellite dishes parked on both sides of the street and vendors selling commemorative T-shirts and bottled water, and joined throngs of fans who wanted to pay tribute to the late pop star.

The Williams family took a picture in front of Neverland's black gates and Josie Williams, 40, a child-care worker, said, "Just knowing that there's where he was living, it was exciting to be there."

Since Jackson's death June 25 in Los Angeles, dozens of journalists and hundreds of fans have traveled to his 2,600-acre estate.

At Corner House Coffee in Los Olivos, clerks kept a list of countries journalists had come from -- including Belgium, Germany, Poland and Venezuela -- to poach their wireless Internet and eat their sandwiches.

While CNN's Larry King interviewed Jackson's older brother Jermaine on the ranch grounds Thursday, fans left flowers and wrote messages such as "Michael, You gave us Magic, Love, Dreams!!! I'll love you eternally" on large whiteboards.

Some pitched tents and sat on fold-out chairs watching the action while others posted signs that said "Your Mexican fans will never forget you," "Gone too soon" and "Spain loves you."

"We brush our teeth right here," said Belen Morales of Lincoln Heights, who was standing on a slope of grass near the ranch Friday.

Belen, 14, her older brother and a friend drove to the ranch in a 1988 pickup truck and arrived at 2 a.m. Wednesday.

They said they did not believe media reports that there would be no public viewing or burial at the ranch.

"We're still thinking that they're going to bring him here," she said.

(A spokesman for the ranch said Neverland would conduct no events until after Tuesday's memorial service.)

Nearby, 22-year-old Jason Osborne of Santa Maria sold white T-shirts for $15 that said "I paid my respects at Neverland." Osborne said he was there to "make a buck, of course, but I want to be part of it somehow. Give people something to remember."

Mike Ortiz, 34, a cook between jobs from Lompoc who was wearing a black Michael Jackson T-shirt, said he and his wife planned to stay outside the ranch "until it's all over."

"Being here is priceless," he said.

Many Los Olivos residents worried that the crowds would never cease and that Neverland would be transformed into a Graceland-like landmark for Jackson's fans.

"It would be nice if it faded into obscurity," said John Bennett, 56, a contractor who has lived in Los Olivos for more than two decades. "If they turn it into Graceland, it'll be a mess. . . . Can you imagine all the traffic?"

John Maier, 64, was riding his bicycle when he stopped outside the ranch Friday morning.

"This is our local ride, but there's usually not this much traffic," said Maier, a retired mailman who moved to Solvang three years ago. "The thought of it being a Graceland wasn't good to me. I moved here because it's a small town and I'd like it to stay that way."

Not all residents were upset about the idea of a landmark dedicated to Jackson in the town.

Fred Lambert, 65, a retired operating engineer who has lived at the end of Alta Street for three decades, said he visited Graceland about two years ago and had such a good experience that he wanted Jackson's fans to be able to experience something similar.

"It'd be all right," he said. "I went to Elvis' and it was pretty awesome."

Lambert said one of his sons worked on the Neverland Ranch for a short time after high school and that Jackson has "brought a lot of good to the valley."

Thomas J. Barrack, chairman and chief executive of Colony Capital, which owns the ranch, said in a telephone interview this week that there are no immediate plans for Neverland except to continue its restoration.

"At the moment, our only objective is the polishing and restoration of this Hope Diamond," Barrack said. "The burden we have is to provide stewardship to this timeless asset and an elegant and timely transition."
