60's Trip - Free design - " Light My Fire".....

...

A few from late 60's trippy-giddy family vocal group, Free Design-- Group leader Chris Dedrick was also a trumpet player and horn arranger--IMO, their harmony vocals sounded similar to a brass quartet...

Light My Fire

My Brother Woody

Kites Are Fun

Bubbles

My Very Own Angel

That's All, People

Funny you should post this. I've thought a few times about bringing them up here, but didn't think anyone would bite. Great harmonizers! Shame their career went nowhere. Their take on Eleanor Rigby is divine (and impossible to find on youtube). My Brother Woody is another fave. I've got these two and listen to them often:

Kites Are Fun (1967)

You Could Be Born Again (1968)

I never thought of it that way, but your comparison makes perfect sense, especially with the Light My Fire example.

biggrin Those two are my favorite Free Design albums! I have all the others, but I really like these best, song for song....

I actually grew up listening to this (among some of the first music I remember hearing in the house as a kid).... I used to think I was the only one, but I've seen a handful of fans pop up on the org now and again.....
