"Call Me" (98.7 KISS Mastermix) by Skyy...anybody ever heard this version? They used to play this version in my area all the time back in 1981 and for years I thought it was the actual 12 Inch version of the song and have been searching for it ever since. As it turns out, it was a special remix made at a New York radio station. How the hell did it make it onto the airwaves all the way down in Jackson, Mississippi? Anyway, anybody else ever heard this version? . . . [Edited 7/1/09 1:00am] Andy is a four letter word.

But seriously, seeing that it was a remix made for a New York radio station, I just assumed it was made for that station exclusively and after it went out of style, was probably never heard again. Now, how it made it all the way down here back then, I have no clue. Maybe the station got together with Skyy and agreed to let them distribute the remix to stations accross the country. Hell, I don't know. Andy is a four letter word.

I wish we had a station down here that would do different things on the weekend like they used to. Down here, Friday and Saturday nights are just the same ole shit as during the week. I don't even turn my radio on and strictly play my own music. But I do know what the radio plays though, because I hear it in the car when I'm gone to make a beer run. Andy is a four letter word.

I even heard the rare 13-minute version of "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" by the Gap Band, you know the one where you can clearly hear bombs going off?

At the time there was a compilation-album released with mixes of Shep Pettibone, although Skyy isn't on the one below. I think there's one or a few others of those compilations. Some have also been reissued on cd.

Not only that but, there were other stations with those call letters, who also used 98.7's Mastermixes. So, for Timmy to have heard it would not be that unusual. WRKS 98.7 This mastermix album was originally on Prelude and long out of print as an original. I think the re issue on Ram's horn is as well.
