The Three Degrees' Fayette Pinkney passes away

Here's what I got from Soulful-Detroit:

Fayette Pinkney January 10, 1948 – June 27, 2009

I just received word that Fayette Pinkney has passed away late Saturday night or very early this morning. She had been in the hospital for a few weeks

I have no other details other than that at present. I extend my sincere condolences to her family, all loved ones & fans of The Three Degrees.

Fayette Pinkney - R.I.P.

No one else has any more details on what caused her death but I'm sure it'll be made available later.

No it's just life.

I hate to think of anything weird popping.

Life is just one weird maze. I stopped figuring out what the fuckin' deal is about "death".

Ottensen

I remember my daddy PARKED in front of the tv when the Three Degrees used to come on,and my mama used to catch a STANK attitude like "they are not all that rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes". Ironically, in retrospect they pretty much had the same look as my mom and all her cohorts at the time, stick skinny big big ass hair, always oohin', aahin' and singing "doodooo-do-do".lol

I remember some of the songs, but I remember their tv appearances more for some reason:

In retrospect, they were trying to be Diana Ross and the Supremes whereas First Choice were more rougher (imagine Martha Reeves and the Vandellas but from Philly). Their American success was very brief in terms of pop/R&B chart placings (1970-1975) but they had some disco hits afterwards and some of the songs made the international charts.

Exactly. I only remember them from being a really small 70's baby, but they were definitely a fixture on tv the same way we see modern groups making tv performance appearances today. My parents had their 45's and my mom would play them on Saturday mornings. fallinluv

The Three Degrees were MUCH bigger in Europe than they ever were in the US. They were hot tho.

My aunt called me about Billy Mays, the Oxi Clean guy. She was very upset cuz it sounded like he got a bump on the head on a plane and was found dead hours later. eek
