Him and Jesse Jackson are always the first on the scene whenever something goes down in the black community Glad I'm not alone in my feelings about Rev Sharpton's speech! The music we listen to is so completely interconnected that I don't see the need to ignore or undermine the achievement of other artists to pay "tribute" to any other artist. I just felt that Sharpton overlooked 60 years of music history in his comments as if Michael had invented pop music, which is as ridiculous as saying that Little Richard or Elvis or Chuck Berry invented Rock and Roll singlehandedly (sp). I really can't help but wonder why it is such a big part of "fandom" to not only celebrate "their" artist but to do so at the cost of disrespecting other artists.

FUCK HIM. Plus when MJ was claiming that Tommy Motolla was racist, he said "I was shocked by that, I knew Tommy for ten to fifteen years, and I consider him a friend, he doesn't seem racist to me." [Edited 7/1/09 17:20pm] Ok, what exactly did Al say??? Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

So when looking back, you credit them for something they didn't even do especially by themselves.

Yeah because you know it's going to happen. Maybe not like THAT but something similar. I don't think they were this combative when James died and Al was James' close friend, so he says. Rev Al looks fucking ridiculous in that above pic, sweating out his processed hair.
Which begs the question, why hasn't the Jackson family appointed a professional media spokesperson or selected a PR firm to handle all questions related to MJ's demise?

Next, the cashin' in. | |

Someone asked what Al said:
He said that black music was ghettoized until Michael Jackson showed up, in other words, Michael was the first black man to do what he did. He totally disrespected Motown Records and the rock 'n' roll movement of the fifties and sixties when he said this. That's why some of us are upset at him.

I'm watching the World Music Awards from 2006 and Chris Brown just performed a tribute "Thriller" dance. He couldn't even sing all the words to the song or hit the higher notes.
Why, oh why did it have to be Beyonce giving him his award? Micheal is going to perform "We Are the World" in a few. I've read all the rest of the comments and been watching CNN all day. I'm tired. I'm just going to concentrate on his music until all the shit goes away. year edit and so TIRED I can't type edit [Edited 7/1/09 18:35pm] [Edited 7/1/09 19:12pm] "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Did anyone see what Quincy Jones said about Mike after his death? That was pretty low of him and he should have kept his feelings to himself.
http://men.style.com/deta...ntent_9937 Q: You were there to witness the strange evolution in Michael's appearance. Did you ever step in and saying anything about it? A: Oh, we talked about it all the time. But he'd come up with, "Man, I promise you I have this disease," and so forth, and "I have a blister on my lungs," and all that kind of b.s. It's hard, because Michael's a Virgo, man—he's very set in his ways. You can't talk him out of it. Chemical peels and all that stuff. Q: Did you believe him about the disease? A: I don't believe in any of that bullish, no. No. Never. I've been around junkies and stuff all my life. I've heard every excuse. It's like smokers—"I only smoke when I drink" and all that stuff. But it's bullish. You're justifying something that's destructive to your existence. It's crazy. I mean, I came up with Ray Charles, man. You know, nobody gonna pull no wool over my eyes. He did heroin 20 years! Come on. And black coffee and gin for 40 years. But when he called me to come over to see him when he was in the hospital on his way out, man, he had emphysema, hepatitis C, cirrhosis of the liver, and five malignant tumors. Please, man! I've been around this all my life. So it's hard for somebody to pull the wool over my eyes. But when somebody's hell-bent on it, you can't stop 'em. Q: But it must've been so disturbing to see Michael's face turn into what it turned into. A: It's ridiculous, man! Chemical peels and all of it. And I don't understand it. But he obviously didn't want to be black. [Edited 7/1/09 18:51pm] [Edited 7/1/09 18:51pm]
