Private and public funerals have been set for the late Michael Jackson, according to CNN.

Hs body will return to his Neverland Ranch for a public viewing on Friday, CNN reports. (Jackson's brothers Jackie, Jermaine and Tito visited the grounds over the weekend and a delivery truck was spotted there Tuesday dropping off boxes.)

A private memorial service is slated for Sunday, according to CNN.

There is still no word on where Jackson will be buried, but his hometown of Gary, Ind., is hoping the family to send him there.

"I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Ind.," Gary Mayor Rudy Clay told Chicago radio station WGN Tuesday. "Now, it may not happen, but I believe it will."

Look back at Michael Jackson's life

At the very least, Clay said he hopes Jackson's body will be taken to Gary for a July 10 memorial service at U.S. Steel Works ballpark.

The memorial would be "fit for the prince of peace and a memorial that's fit for Gary, Indiana's favorite son, the greatest entertainer that ever lived."

Gary officials may even propose that that the singer be buried near a proposed Jackson family museum and a performing arts center, Clay's spokeswoman Lalosa Burns said.

"The mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family," Burns said. "We have not received confirmation on that."

On Tuesday, fans gathered for a public tribute to Jackson at Harlem's Apollo Theater, where the singer performed as a child.

Jackson died at age 50 June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest.

Ignoring Jackson's philanthropic pursuits and contributions to forty charities, on the "Today Show," it was all about what happened to all of the nigger's money and whether he died from too many drugs and what's to become of his children, questions meant to attract the prurient. Again, Diane Dimod was invited on to spread scurrilous unconfirmed rumors about the dead star. Some of the modern day carnival barkers like Chris Matthews expressed surprise that Jackson's death resulted in such an outpouring of worldwide mourning. This is what happens to people like Matthews who dwell in an insulated white supremacist bubble (that includes the Anglo wannabe and Churchill admiring Irish among them) which holds that a narrow cultural strip between New York and Washington represents the world.

this reminds me something i posted the other day. earl ofari hutchinson stated at the huffington post that as recently as 2008 the heal the world foundation had resumed its philanthropic efforts. if mj was so broke how could he do that?

and yes, this media who've been driven to distraction in their attempts to lynch this man for so many years *are* dumbfounded as they thought they had succeded. someone said that mj used to say that lies run sprints while truth runs marathons. after all of these lies fall by the wayside, the truth will still be here.

Phillips recently talked with London’s Sky News about Jackson’s health prior to the pop star’s death, funeral arrangements and what his company is going to do with those 50 O2 Arena shows.

Public "viewing"? Does that mean the casket will be open?

Yes

Oh God, no.

I can't handle that. That picture ET and the Insider shows of his head during transport to the hospital (that keeps popping up and catching me off guard during commercials) seriously bothers me, and causes my stress level to increase when I rapidly turn away. I cannot see an open casket. I've never been able to view bodies at loved ones funerals. I pray to God they don't show that on television.

Harle, this man has a vault....if you think what I posted is alot, you have no idea...

I remember reading something about Lauryn Hill producing a song for him back in 1999 which was supposed to be in "Invisible".

Did you hear the song? Or is it circulating somewhere OR just a rumor? I've always thought that Lauryn's gifts for lyrics could compliment MJ's voice so much.

Very sweet.

This reminds me, I've always been impressed with how many wonderful and talented people Michael knew. He knew the best of the best and then some, both young and old. You could easily play the six degrees of Michael Jackson.

Seems there will be a public viewing on Friday at Neverland.

You know, I could not stand when a lot of newspapers had the pic of JB's open casket and also, seeing it all over the internet. I just know we will continue to see MJ's open casket pic smeared all over the internet for a while. It is tragic and sad how so many people are coming out of the woodwork "talking" now. How sad. This sends one big message. It does not pay to have that kind of stardom or fame, for when you die, and if there are any skeletons in your closet, and even if there aren't, people you may have thought were close to you, or you called your friends/associates, will come out of the woodwork singing about you, and the media will help make what was once your life, a total circus.

To be honest, I'll be happy when he is finally buried and the media stop having a circus with all this. I pray for strength, patience and peace for the Jackson family to deal with MJ's passing, and all the media drama that will be going on about MJ for a long time.

i don't need to watch it. i'll probably read a summary, but that's about it. i have enough trouble going to funerals in person, why would i want to watch one on tv? and closed caskets are awful. to each their own method of grieving, but i think it's morbid and disturbing.
