Teena Marie Announces Congo Square Dates

June 2009
Link

Fresh off the Stax Records debut "Congo Square," Teena Marie is ready to kick off an anticipated summer/fall trek behind the album.

Marie's new album, featuring collaborations with both McLyte and Faith Evans, debuted last week and has reportedly sold over 18,000 copies. But album sales do not define Marie's work, the former "Square Biz" singer is known for tearing the house down with soulful live shows just as much, if not more than the her discography.

With that in mind, Teena Marie will embark on a nearly three month tour, starting this month. Making stops in New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia before wrapping up in Alpine, California September 26, Marie will perform classics and cuts from "Congo Square".

Great news. She's got a fantastic new album and I look forward to seeing her in concert. Her record label should release "The Pressure" as the second single. It's a perfect single for the summer.

Pressure is one of the weakest on the album. If her label had some courage, they would release The Rose n Thorn - the best record she has made since Portugese Love.

I think "The Pressure" is one of the best songs on the album. It's a sexy, sultry jam...just right for summer.I felt the same way about "Honey Call" from 'La Dona'.

Exactly. I also liked Honey Call. It was my favorite song off La Dona

I think "You Baby" has R&B radio written all over it and would get airplay.

"Milk & Honey" is the shit tho.

"Milk And Honey" is the only song that I'm not crazy about.I don't like the AutoTune effects.
