It's funny and I don't know who feels the same. There's a calmness and peacefulness within me about him, now. I know I felt relief almost. I don't know if anyone will understand but to me I feel relief for his spirit because he is free. He is truly FREE and hopefully at peace. My sadness comes from knowing how his family, friends and fans will mourn his loss. And I'm happy that for a time he had the opportunity to be a father. I'm still so numb. It's only 2 hours into my work day here in Australia and as the unofficial resident DJ here, I've been asked to just play MJ songs all day. His music reached beyond the normal influence of the average star. It's a sad day for music. A sad day for fans.

True. that's not 100% fair...they did have a friendship, at least during part of the 80s. also, they were considered peers - madonna, michael and prince were considered a pop icon trinity for several years in the 80s. she might be an attention whore, but there's nothing at all inappropriate about her commenting on MJ's death.

They were the end all be all, and we didn't have a care in the world back then while we were listening to them...we didn't picture them not being able to dance all over the stage, let alone be in bad health. I cried when I heard a Luther Vandross song ("I Rather"). So I fear if I play anything by Mike, I'll burst in tears, I can't have that now!

So many great memories from Mike and much love and blessings to the Jackson family.
1) In August 1981, I went to see the Triumph tour at Madison Square Garden. Weeks advance, WBLS was heavily promoting the concert and the song "Walk Right Now" (my summer jam) from the Jacksons. My high school girlfriend and I went to Mama Leone's to get some Italian food. I remember ordering a screwdriver and being nervous since I was underage. One drink and a buzz walking down to the show. Stacey Lattisaw opened up and then magical show from the Jackson. Great musicians, tremendous light show, and the brothers had the moves and the grooves. Randy's catcher shin guards.... Amazing show. But one thing stood out. It was such a short show. Barely over an hour . Yet, the Jacksons packed so much in that short time. Alas, my song "Walk Right Now" was omitted. Confusing since it was the top playing song on NYC radio at the time. 2) During my freshman year in 1982 at New York University, I had two posters on my dorm room wall. One of Michael Jackson and one of Prince in the shower from the Controversy. My roommate would take the posters off the wall when I would come back to Connecticut to visit my girlfriend of the time. Then, I would put them back up on Sunday night upon my return. Rick Rubin lived in my dorm back then. Found that out a few years ago. Peace Joe Kelley Minneapolis Music Month in March on the

In my early teens, the man was my idol... my musical passion. He's not the sort of thing I'm much into anymore, although when I do catch his music these days, I realize that I can't deny I'm still in love.
I can still remember... at 13, my mother bringing me a gift as I was in the hospital recovering from back surgery (it was the Bad album, the first MJ CD I ever owned). My sister getting me Thriller for my birthday a month later. Buying Moonwalker on VHS used on amazon (this was before the blasted DVD came out ... but hey, it might just be worth something someday!). Sticking up for him in front of my peers at school, even if it was painful at times. Just the sheer joy I felt discovering and then being an active fan of his music... it was unlike anything I'd ever heard... gave me a feeling unlike anything I'd ever experienced. I am hurting over his passing. If there is indeed a God and a place after death, I hope his soul is at peace. R.I.P., Moonwalker. You're in my heart always.
