I liked Michael Jackson from his Jackson 5 days and listened to their albums, watched their short-lived variety show on CBS, and even had his Off The Wall and Thriller albums. But my most vivid memory was him doing the moonwalk on the Motown 25th Anniversary Special. I couldn't even dance, but I was trying to learn how to do the moonwalk. boogie

As much as my heart aches for his passing, my heart truly aches for his three children. They've lost the only parent they've ever know, and I have no idea who will raise them now that Michael is gone.

I hope one of Michael's siblings will take care of them.

I heard they're with Katherine now but it would be sweet if Janet could care for them since like she likes children but doesn't seem to be having any of her own.

His music will always be there as his legacy, as others have said.

Anybody have a particular favorite track?

For me it's gotta be Billie Jean. With Wanna Be Startin' Something a close 2nd.

And i've always had a soft spot for Can't Get Outta The Rain... and Get on the Floor. And so many others.

I agree about Janet. They need to be with a loving family as I'm sure the Jacksons are.

PEOPLE EXCLUSIVE
Madonna 'Can't Stop Crying' Over Michael Jackson

The sudden death of Michael Jackson jolted his friends and family, a second blow to the entertainment world after it lost another icon, Farrah Fawcett, just hours earlier.

"I can't stop crying over the sad news," Madonna says. "I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."

Lisa Marie Presley, who was briefly married to Jackson in the mid-1990s, says, "I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children, who I know were everything to him, and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me."

"My heart is overcome with sadness for the devastating loss of my true friend Michael," adds Brooke Shields, who raised eyebrows when she briefly dated Jackson. "He was an extraordinary friend, artist and contributor to the world. I join his family and his fans in celebrating his incredible life and mourning his untimely passing."

Elizabeth Taylor, one of Jackson's closest and longstanding friends, was "too devastated" to issue a statement, her rep says, while Quincy Jones, who produced Jackson's biggest hits, says, "I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words."

Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, which honored Jackson with 13 Grammys, says, "Rarely has the world received a gift with the magnitude of artistry, talent, and vision as Michael Jackson. He was a true musical icon."
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today after paramedics found him in a coma at his Bel-Air mansion, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told The Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call from the home. When they arrived, Jackson was not breathing. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda said.

Hundreds of reporters gathered at the hospital awaiting word on his condition. The sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named, said family members rushed to Jackson's bedside, where he was in a deep coma.

The circumstances of Jackson's death remain unclear. Law enforcement sources said that Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detectives have opened an investigation into the death, though they stressed there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. The detectives plan to interview relatives, friends and Jackson's doctors to try to figure out what happened. The L.A. County coroner's office will determine a cause of death.

A Los Angeles Fire Department source told The Times that Jackson was in full cardiac arrest when rescue units arrived on scene. A doctor was in the house performing CPR on him, said the source, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

While typing this, I heard one of his brothers (Jermaine, I presume) on the radio news. He was reading a statement that agreed with the report above, and also mentioned the doctor being there before the paramedics arrived, but he didn't name the doctor.

Me too. Because I feel like he's safe now. He was never safe in the 50 years he was on this earth especially since his career started 41 years ago.

Goodness. Michael, Prince and Madonna...Remember how we used to be bumping them on the house radio and tryin to stay up late to watch them when they performed on tv shows? They were the end all be all, and we didn't have a care in the world back then while we were listening to them...we didn't picture them not being able to dance all over the stage, let alone be in bad health. Lawd knows I haven't paid much attention to any of these folks in years, but if I swear if something happens to Prince or Madonna's haggly behind I'm just going to be a hot wreck. sigh
