Especially if she is blessed to many more years ahead of her she can do all that when she’s in her 50s. Well I think stuff that Kelly Clarkson is doing is even more mature than her uptempo work....I wish Mariah would have came up with something like Think Before He Cheats or even Bleeding Love. They just sound more mature than the same urban mess that she has been doing for first singles. I havent went back to play e=mc2 at all other than like 2 or 3 tracks. And again I would die if she only did ballads....she dont have to be no Mary J (boring) or Keshia Cole (boring) it just I wish she would stop trying to be a diva trendsetter and do mature uptempo tunes. Not shi- hop. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Not shi- hop. Key words. I recently heard a song by Kelly the other day and it was pretty good. I agree. Besides I think she's done all she can do with this format. She needs to branch out. Timmy84 said: With Mariah, Tommy basically had her and Walter Affansieff working together (I think, not sure) and didn't want hip-hop acts on it though Mariah always wanted to. That's true. But when you look at the Daydream album, that was the more urban album compared to any of Mariah's previous albums she had done with Tommy Mottola. I mean remember she did Fantasy with ODB as well. Her first three album were more adult contemporary. I thought Butterfly was the perfect mixture between the new Mariah and old Mariah songs. [Edited 6/23/09 16:28pm]

TonyVanDam said: CORRECTION: Mariah went too far the shit-hop direction with..... It was all good with Butterfly in 1997. But Rainbow in 1999 was when it was very clear that Mariah had too much creative freedom. i agree....with the exception of Glitter, i cant stand her post-Daydream BS. She talks about liking hip-hop...and i look at her like: Girl, ur from Long Island and ur named after a musical number. Are you suffering from exhaustion again? How will we fill our empty room?

R.Kelly is only in it for the underage girls. And I'm dead surprise that he still have a music career. 3. Madonna is a R&R Hall of Famer. She really has nothing else to prove at this stage of her career. The big deal about ageism will be "passe" only if Katy Perry, & Soulja Boy can still make music pass age 30. And for the time being, I have my doubt. [Edited 6/22/09 18:26pm] Mariah has substance which will carry her as long as she maintains it - CoonBoy doesn't. I wasn't talking about Jamie's acting career, thats beside the point. I'm talking about the fact that he's doing "bump & grind" shit and folks want to get on Mariah's supposed "old senile" ass instead And believe me, Robert Kelly still enjoys a VERY fruitful career despite my hope for his fall. As for Madonna, I brought her up so ya'll could relax and stop worrying about the "age" factor. The name-calling of celebrities are very outrageous in the org. Vainandy called Whitney Houston, "Shitney". VoicesCarry called Fergie, "Fugly". And now we can thank AND blame you for calling Soulja Boy, "CoonBoy". What else will orgers think of next?!?

Prince said the same thing about MPLSound. And we know how THAT turned out, don't we?

MPCs are hardly to blame, as they should offer enough possibilities for responsive playing - just with sampled material. If you hit a pad on it, it's not that different to someone playing a rompler type of a synthesizer.
In fact, that type of interfaces are pretty good for getting a far more groovier and lively feel to rogrammed drum tracks - as opposed to just using a step sequencer type of approach, which tends to just sort of sound mechanic by definition. The MPC line is favoured these days exactly by those electronic / sampling oriented musicians who want to have an enough flexible interface that will allow introducing a livelier feel to their music. Oh Mariah? Sorry, gear over tits for me.

Have one side have RZA and Danger Mouse on there giving her some hard-edged flavor then switch it up on the urban contemporary side with Raphael and James Poyser on that bitch!

TonyVanDam said: lastdecember said: I know that she wrote it on her site, and twittered it everywhere. But Prince also said "roadhouse garden" was coming out and that "Rave" was back to basics and that he was re-recording all his albums. So i know Prince is Prince and Mariah is Mariah, but one thing that they do have in common is their ability to kind of "stretch" the truth, build the hype. I personally dont think Mariah will go "back to basics" because the "basics" that were there for her are gone, and also she is too "chart concerned" and she isnt at a point where she isnt afraid not to sell. Her production "rumoured" lineup already speaks volumes on where the basics are that she is going for.
One hope that i would hope she could pull off, if its going to be straight up hip hop beats which it most likely will be, can we just cut it to 10 songs and 40 minutes, concentrate on just giving 10n and closing the deal. Dont stretch it out, dont rope in Da Brat or Snoop or Missy because you feel Nostalgic, skip the skits about Eminem and his dillusions, PLEASE no songs about Nick or duets or please dont let him do an intro for god sakes. Let him do his "step up" or "Dance off" sequels and you do the music stuff, well at least try to do it. And for the love of god, do a good video, if this new video has you in a pool or dancing with dolphin, or doing that "hair thing" and "Look" skip it, dont hire Brett Ratneer because he is just gonna hire an Eminem look alike and then the video will be this whole "scandal" but in reality no one cares about the "Eminem and Mariah" feud that really only exists in both their minds. So there you have it, you wanna sex it up, be my guest, but work it with sexing it up, you havent pulled off sexy since "the Roof" video, and that wasnt even planned to be sexy it just was, maybe thats a basic to focus on. For Mariah to go "back to basics", Tommy Mottola would have to control her THE same way Clive Davis is back controlling Whitney. At least under Tommy's watch, Mariah will definitely never do anything shit-hop again! Clive Davis don't even want Whitney Houston going to certain functions because he's scared she's gonna fuck up her sober status. Tommy's is the reason Mariah is stuck in the little girl image that she tries hard to shed. Dressing half naked and being hip is not the thing either. When Mariah first came out she needed to go to somebody's all girl charm school. Mariah had no lady like manners, and acted like she had no home training. Now I understand why Tommy treated her like he did, she was a work in progress, and STILL IS!!! The message you are about to hear are not meant for transmission. Should ONLY be accessed in the privacy of your mind. Words are so intense so if you dare to listen.Take off your clothes and meet me between the lines.

This is a typical The Dream song, all his music sounds the same. He looks like the fat kid, wearing too little clothes! A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.
