I know that she wrote it on her site, and twittered it everywhere. But Prince also said "roadhouse garden" was coming out and that "Rave" was back to basics and that he was re-recording all his albums. So i know Prince is Prince and Mariah is Mariah, but one thing that they do have in common is their ability to kind of "stretch" the truth, build the hype. I personally dont think Mariah will go "back to basics" because the "basics" that were there for her are gone, and also she is too "chart concerned" and she isnt at a point where she isnt afraid not to sell. Her production "rumoured" lineup already speaks volumes on where the basics are that she is going for.

One hope that i would hope she could pull off, if its going to be straight up hip hop beats which it most likely will be, can we just cut it to 10 songs and 40 minutes, concentrate on just giving 10n and closing the deal. Dont stretch it out, dont rope in Da Brat or Snoop or Missy because you feel Nostalgic, skip the skits about Eminem and his dillusions, PLEASE no songs about Nick or duets or please dont let him do an intro for god sakes. Let him do his "step up" or "Dance off" sequels and you do the music stuff, well at least try to do it. And for the love of god, do a good video, if this new video has you in a pool or dancing with dolphin, or doing that "hair thing" and "Look" skip it, dont hire Brett Ratneer because he is just gonna hire an Eminem look alike and then the video will be this whole "scandal" but in reality no one cares about the "Eminem and Mariah" feud that really only exists in both their minds. So there you have it, you wanna sex it up, be my guest, but work it with sexing it up, you havent pulled off sexy since "the Roof" video, and that wasnt even planned to be sexy it just was, maybe thats a basic to focus on.

Well this is where it differs a little: when Whitney was still under Clive's thumb during her first 15 years in Arista, on "My Love is Your Love", Clive helped Whitney get work with Wyclef, Lauryn and Rodney and that was the "in" sound back then. But maybe it was Clive that helped in the dance remixes (which really made that album popular) for the songs because the album wasn't doing shit on the charts until then. And from what I hear Clive is not having just Diane Warren on Whitney's shit, R. Kelly and Swizz Beatz are supposedly on it too.

With Mariah, Tommy basically had her and Walter Affansieff working together (I think, not sure) and didn't want hip-hop acts on it though Mariah always wanted to.
