Show Your Love Fo' The Beach Boys I think they are discussed to little in here!
I recently purchased their whole catalogue til Smiley Smile. I only knew the obvious hit singles like I Get Around, Californian Girls and Wouldn't It Be Nice etc. But I think they have so many other great songs, even b-sides, that are flawless. They are often compared to the Beatles. I think the Beach Boys are not as great as the Beatles, simply coz the BB had a distinctive style which they never got rid off. The finesse, the production skills changed over the years, but their style was always the same. No wonder they could not go on like this forever. These are my favorites (especially the bolt ones) Little Bird Be True To Your School I Get Around Surfer Girl In My Room Your Summer Dream When I Grow Up Let Him Run Wild You're So Good To Me California Girls Keep And Eye On My Baby Don't Worry Baby Fun Fun Fun Caroline No I Just Wasn't Made For This Time Here Today God Only Knows I'm Waiting For The Day You Still Believe In me Wouldn't It Be Nice what are yours?

They sang alot of simular songs and I thinnk the beach boys actually used some of their songs Actually, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys collaborated with them on some of their biggest hits, including "Surf City". There's a great movie about Jan&Dean called "Dead Man's Curve". My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I believe it was Dean but I'm not sure. I remember watching an episode on them on "Behind the Music". Somehow they found a way to reunite after all they went through.

Not really into The Beach Boys that much, but I do have Sounds of Summer cd. Besides the well-known hits, my fave song is "Don't Worry Baby." That one touches me for some reason.

Ooh forgot that one! That was their little fling with the Phil Spector arrangements there and Brian (or was it Carl) Wilson singing so beautifully with that falsetto.

They're a favorite of mine, and I used to bring them up here now and again. But I ended up talking to myself, so I stopped. God Only Knows and You Still Believe in Me are two of the most beautifully orchestrated pop songs.

To be perfectly honest, other than "California Girls" I never got into their surfin' phase that well. It was after they began to adapt newer sounds that I dug their material the most. Between 1964 or 1965 through 1968.

I love the Beach Boys, America's biggest-selling band. My favorites ("Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "God Only Knows") have already been mentioned, but here are a few I love that haven't been posted yet:

The Beach Boys were pretty much known as a west coast surfer band with great harmonies, but Brian Wilson was heavily influenced by the Beatles and wrote most of the tracks for Pet Sounds as a response to Rubber Soul and Revolver. The Beatles were so impressed by Pet Sounds that they claimed it was their inspiration to do Sgt. Pepper. In fact, as the Beatles were working on Sgt. Pepper, Brian Wilson wanted to create their own version of it that would transcend all of the work they did before. This was also the time Brian Wilson started experimenting with LSD, and the sessions for Smile were supposedly influenced by one of his acid trips. Unfortunately, Brian started going crazy, and his bandmates started getting pissed at the direction of the album and it was eventually shelved until 2004.

They were probably tied with the Rolling Stones and The Beatles for the most 45s in my collection when I was a kid.
I still have quite a few of them including... ...I Get Around Some other favorite Beach Boy tunes: Be True To Your School Fun, Fun, Fun Dance, Dance, Dance Help Me, Rhonda Wouldn't It Be Nice Sloop John B. Good Vibrations When I Grow Up (To Be A Man) Heroes And Villains Darlin' Sail On, Sailor God Only Knows Surf's Up In My Room Don't Worry Baby The Warmth Of The Sun When I got this comp... ...I thought I had it made. That's until I realized it didn't include The Warmth Of The Sun, Sail On, Sailor and Surf's Up. I'd trade those for Come And Go With Me, Rock And Roll Music and Kokomo any day. This one fills in those gaps... ...Warmth of the Sun ...Sail On Sailor ...When I Grow Up To Be A Man ...Wouldn't It Be Nice ...Darlin' ...In My Room tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 6/21/09 19:44pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
