Just want to add, the Black Eyed Peas manager, Polo Molina said he was the one that hit Perez.
NOW, he may have done it but the Black Eyed Peas were set to leave the country and the police were not going to allow anyone to leave until they had their man in custody. Polo Molina is straight gangsta so I have a feeling it was him. Violence is never the answer and using gay slur words is horrible, especially when you get upset when someone calls you that. Uncalled for. The violence and the slur words. From several eye witness accounts, they approached perez nicely and non threatning and talked with him a while both times in a non-threatning matter. ya know, i joke sometimes about using words like "fag" and saying "it's different when we call each other that"...for the most part, i'm joking and i don't think it's "cool" to toss around slurs just to be cute or clever, but i've been in enough social scenes to know that sometimes we can use these kinds of words in a kind of loving/familiar way, usually among people who know each other well. this is not what perez did. he used the word as a slur. he used it out of hate. he used it with hostility. in my opinion, he's as wrong as the most homophobic hillbillies i had to endure growing up in rural indiana. it would show a little class if he would cop a mea culpa, but he's made it clear he won't go that route. if someone had called perez a faggot, we wouldn't be hearing the end of it and whoever dared use that word would be painted as public enemy #1 by now. meanwhile, perez says he doesn't claim to be a spokesperson for the gay community. funny, he was awfully loud and proud just a couple of months ago during the whole whatsherface prejean gay marriage controversy. i guess gay pride is something he can just turn on and off when it suits him.

It's hard for me to feel for anyone in this case. Perez comes off as a whiny hypocrite (didn't he got absolutely ballistic when Isaiah Washington used that word?)
